Rod Hagen got a reaction from samhexum in One Battle After Another
Ha Ha. No, the line "Dude why is your shirt so tight?" and his response "I'm not gay" are quotes from the movie. :-)

Sean Penn is so friggin RIpped in the movie. "Dude, why is your shirt so tight?" "I'm not gay if that's what you're asking." Lol

The hunky actor that played the Army “recruiter” on The English Teacher last night also has a role, but I think a minor one.

Rod Hagen got a reaction from BSR in After The Hunt, Julia Roberts and Call Me By Your Name Drctr
The other night saw a DGA screening with Q&A afterward, Julia Roberts flaked (supposedly not feeling well).
I liked it. Guy who shot Clockers did the cinematography and like all of Luca Guadagnino films, it's beautiful.

Rod Hagen reacted to sf traveler in Colombia or Brazil?
Both countries have amazing men that would meet your description. In Rio de Janeiro there are saunas with rentboys so it’s much easier to meet people—and they are used to tourists who don’t speak Portuguese. Although I loved the menso much, I actually learned Portuguese. In Bogota I’ve used an agency www.escortsbuk.com. It’s expensive in a Colombian context but not to an American. The guys are great and, if you don’t speak Spanish, it’s a good way to meet beautiful guys. The one time I tried to use a guy I found on rentmen in Colombia he stole my wallet.

Rod Hagen reacted to d.anders in The Morning Show on Apple TV
I was gifted with Apple TV yesterday, and I started to watch The Morning Show. I was blown away by the first two episodes of Season 1. Smart writing, good acting, great angst and tension, and terrific chemistry between Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Can't wait to see more. I'm surprised Aaron Sorkin wasn't part of the creative team. Seems like something he would have jumped on.

I am head-over-heels in love with this show. I'm halfway through Season 2, and I have so much to say. I need to find time to write. Season 1 knocked me clear off my LazyBoy.

Just finished Episode 2 in Season 3. Holy shit! I am still trying to find the words.
Here is a miracle, this show has been around since 2019. All of my friends have seen it, and they know my hate for Apple. Not one spoiler has come to my attention in all this time. I have even seen some brief interviews with some of the stars, the last of which was Jon Hamm. Lots of tempting build-up, but no details. Everything I have seen has been a complete surprise.
This roller-coaster ride is top shelf. It seems every other episode, my stomach is my throat. It's so nice to see that quality can be found on TV.

Rod Hagen got a reaction from MikeBiDude in Movies everyone loved that you... didn't
I've heard from other people that they hate that movie, but I never got a good explanation as to why? It's so iconic for so many of us Gen Xers that I need to ask, what is it that you don't like about A Christmas Story?

This one is set in a period span a bit longer than a day. LOL
The tension builds slowly and intensifies in the second part.
It’s his 8th, I believe, since On Chesil Beach.

I'm fighting my way through "Saturn's Child" by Charles Stross, after reading a review that said it was a fine homage to Heinlein's "Friday" (a guilty pleasure). It's a little TOO 'out there' for me. I keep thinking of Nancy Pearl's advice; If you’re fifty years old or younger, give every book about fifty pages before you decide to commit yourself to reading it, or give up. Over fifty? Subtract your age from 100 and use that as your guide. For what it's worth, I got to page 89 last night.

Glad you liked it. I'm conflicted. I loved everything before Atonement. Atonement was a major achievement, and I only "liked" the section before the war.
Saturday is well written, but the artifice of a book representing a day feels wrong to me, and done to death by other great writers. And he is a great writer.
Chesil Beach SUCKED. If he's written other books since then, I'm unfamiliar.
I will read What We Can Know, but I'm not expecting to be blown away like he used to do for me.

Rod Hagen got a reaction from TMB in Do you share the fact that you hire?
The other day I was reading old emails from Mom, early 2000s. In one of the emails she was gushing with gratitude for the TV, VCR and computer I'd purchased for her. 25 years later, yesterday, I was thinking how nice it was to be able to do things like that for her, and how sad she would have been had she known from where that money came. Not disappointed, just sad. People open to a lot simply are not open to this business (except when they need it).

I'm not. Never heard of him. So I just had to google him and could NOT hit stop on the video fast enough. Not my kind of music. Oh well.

Well I for one had to goggle his name. That sad I’m know to be terrible at knowing musical artist’s names.
