Bang on...as usual! USD 300 (going rate or even lower) for NYC is approximately CAD$400. No ads in Toronto has that rate. For me I don't bargain, so if you keep your rate in USD here that simply means I either pass or hire for shorter time. Just offering the other side of the story ;-)

I have said for a long time (in here and elsewhere) that there is an equivalence between prices in AUD, CAD, NZD and USD and to a lesser extend GBP, that means we tend to compare the number rather than convert the currency. Expecting to pull your usual USD rate in Canada or Australia is optimistic.

I may be part of the reason Juan chose to retire from this site. I was never the greatest fan of his posts. I found him prone to lecture and pontificate. His posts frequently seemed to be coming from on high as if he were throwing pearls of wisdom out to the ignorant masses. When I called him on his holier than thou attitude, a couple of times, he clearly wasn’t happy. At about that time he decided to withdraw from this site and frankly I was just fine with that – I haven’t missed him in the least.

The Monster bar is my favourite. Piano bar on the ground level, with dancing downstairs. Friendliest crowd in NYC.

I like it when an escort contacts me, usually after I've viewed their profile. I feel like at least they checked my profile and know what I want and that they can provide. I've met several who reached out. They usually respond quickly, are serious to meet up and overall I've had good experiences. I know it's silly but it makes me think at least they're interested.

I have a Nomatic (nomatic.com) travel bag - a family of 4 comfortably fits (LOL).
It is a back pack or can be carried like a regular bag. It is divided into many compartments for organization unlike other back packs. Fits as carryon.
I went to Hawaii a few months ago and it fit 10 days of clothing, etc. without issue.

Of benefit for all travelers - thank you Lance - are packing "cubes" of various sizes to completely organize your packing. See at Amazon. Unbelievable for separating and organizing clothing, toiletries, anything you pack.

I booked the Holiday Inn Express for yesterday (20 May) through DayUse.com. Had it from 10am to 5pm for $99. Taxes were about $17 extra. Room was more than adequate for the purpose. Didn’t need that long, but it gave me plenty of time to shower etc before and after my guest arrived and left.

I saw the play today. I saw the original production 50 years ago. It was a ground breaking play. It opened a window to gay life in a way that had never been done before. It showed how many gay men felt about themselves at the time. I think it was true at the time. I sincerely hope it’s no longer true. I don’t like this play. Not because it’s a bad play but it’s a period of gay life that I hope is over. I would recommend this play especially to young gay men with the understanding that they should understand what gay life was like for many at that time. I would fervently hope that time is past. Having said that, I thought it was a good production with talented gay actors. But I never want to revisit this period ever again.

The very best of any style seems to last. People will still be awestruck by the best deco 100 years from now. Bauhaus architecture from the 20s-30s still looks fresh. Buildings from Fascist Italy look like they were built yesterday. Some of the best mid-century architecture still looks relevant. Wright's masterpieces are eternal.

No booze. Theater seating. Stage, runway. Guys work stage, then audience. Other venues within the building.

I didn't realize that it arrived at that time. Arriving anywhere at 4am is ridiculous, especially if you're staying at an hotel. Imagine hanging around waiting to get into your room at 2pm.

I have a rule, more than 4 hrs business class.

Regularly do Sydney to Europe, prefer to fly in the am from Sydney, overnight in Singapore, then 9am out of Singapore to normally London , arriving at midnight Singapore time but 4pm in the UK, sleep on Uk time ready to go next morning.

Coming home it's a late night departure from London or Frankfurt, late afternoon into Singapore, overnight, and a 7am flight home the next morning, arrival into Sydney about 8pm local time. Again sleep on local time ready to go next morning.

even in Singapre Business I don't normally sleep so that works best for me.

Won't be doing the non stop with a 4am arrival into London.

I live in Perth, the most isolated city in the world, so I am used to long distance flying. I've flown to New York a few times in the last couple of years, going via Hong Kong or the Middle East. Either way involves an initial flight of about 8 hours (Perth/Hong Kong or Perth/Dubai). The second leg of about 15 hours to New York is a lot longer. In all it takes about 24 hours. It's doable, although it usually takes me about a week to get over the jet lag.

The extra 2 hours to fly to London wouldn't be much worse, and you'd avoid the time waiting for the connecting flight. I once had to spend 8 hours in Hong Kong airport because the flight from Perth was delayed and I missed the connection.

BTW, I think it's an excellent idea that Tristan Baldwin should take the flight to Perth and give you all an independent report. Tristan, if you read this, Google "quokka", something everyone should see at least once.
