acks01 got a reaction from + nycman in Isn't 400 dollars for a hour too much for New York standards?
It doesn't bother me at all because they're not entitled to my money and I'm not entitled to their service. If I see a guy I like and I feel like he's charging "too much", it's up to me to decide if it's worthwhile to make the investment. I'm not gonna get in my feelings and complain about the fact that he feels like his time is worth more.
If I'm out shopping for clothes or food or car insurance, I don't get upset because some shops charge more. I find one that I feel is appealing and at a cost I'm okay with. No sense in getting worked up.

I find hilarious all the whiners complaining about others pretending to be "moral authorities", while they feel entitle to have authority to tell sex workers how much they should charge, or how they should run their business.

I say more power to the people who are able to charge what they want for their time/services. I imagine that if any of us were running a business and had people come up to us to complain about prices, we'd just tell them to move on and hope that they find someone who fits the bill better. If you have something I want, it's not my place to tell you that you should be charging me less for it.

Some cities like Phoenix for example, do not have rent control laws or policy.
You cannot really fault the providers that increase their prices when you get to enjoy their homes and services for an hour of more of their time.  As with any service provider, they need to factor their expenses and costs to provide you a service.  They pay to keep their utilities on, rent/mortgage, clean towels and sheets, gas and vehicle expenses to travel to you, etc.
    This is 2022, not 1992!
Massage is a luxury in case many of you forgot, not a necessity. There's always MassageEnvy in case you want to pinch your pennies.  If you argue it's a health-necessity -- having a nearly naked or naked man providing this service, isn't exactly what I would say is "necessity," especially, if you expect a handjob or play at the end.

You seem to be getting very upset by an off handed comment someone made. Maybe take a break from the forum for a bit? You've literally resorted to saying that people here are "predisposed to be jerks and assholes". Come on now. It's truly not that serious.

This is a business of pleasure, no one here is hiring a contractor to do your bathroom tiles and your choice is mainly motivated by frugality. In the service industry, a provider can charge whatever they want because that’s their value. If they are or not willing to negotiate their value, or if is justified or not, it is take it or leave it choice and act like a victim among mature men and young service providers is not getting you any sympathies.

Why hate you for that? It’s correct. I’m doing it for the money (presumably that’s why you do your job too, or do you voluntarily take a pay cut if your boss thinks you weren’t up to his expectations last week?). I set my rate and I’m not reducing it because someone can’t afford it.
The market works very well (it’s almost perfect, there’s very little government regulation, no monopolies, no cartels, clear information) and providers can join it quite easily so I’d say the prices nicely reflect the supply and demand. Browse your providers and pay his rate if it’s what you want. If it’s out of your price range then you’re in the wrong shop.
OK so I enjoy the work and so I hope that comes across as I do it, and I want repeat business so I make sure my clients have a great time (and that I’m easy to book and polite to deal with when doing so - that’s just plain courtesy and should work both ways), …..but ask yourself the question: would the meeting happen if you weren’t paying?  Perhaps it might, perhaps it might not but we really don’t want to contemplate that too hard because it’s going to let daylight in upon magic.

Rents have gone up everywhere especially with inflation. My renewal letter came in for my apartment and it’s 21% increase. $850 increase a month for a 1 year lease. To continue living in my current apartment I have to pay another $10,200 a year. I would have to give 56 more massages to cover the difference just in rent and that doesn’t include the increase in cost of food and other expenses.

My rates aren’t the lowest but they are in top 10% but I have been a CMT for 10 years and actually know what I am doing and my massage can be labeled fun especially the Full Service that I offer as well.

Oh you can definitely say no if they reveal that part of themselves through text/email/phone calls, but a lot of times that side doesn't come out until you're in your session together. Not that male escorts don't experience terrible things because sex work in general is a tough business, but women have to deal with sexism on top of a lot of various dangers. It's just a sad fact that there are a number of men across the world who do not consider women as equals or anything more than sex objects and can easily end up booking a session where they don't show that side of themselves until later.

My friend used to be a female escort, and one of the reasons they charge more is because most rent hotel rooms for sessions. It's just not safe for women to do out calls with strangers, and certainly not in calls. There are just a ton of horror stories when it comes to straight men being highly aggressive and having that be the norm that female escorts experience.

I'm a millennial and so are most of my friends. We almost never chat on the phone as texting/messaging is just much easier. I really only talk to my parents on the phone or sometimes my siblings, but I also am someone who doesn't enjoy talking on the phone because I'm often doing things that would require me to stop and have a conversation.
I know that gen z is even bigger on texting and messaging than millennials. I love being able to have conversations with friends, but I'd much rather do that in person when hanging out than over the phone.
