New-ish provider here that recently learned about the forum:
I created my account after a regular at my home strip club made me aware of a post discussing me, someone saying they met me off Grindr before I was on RM, saying that he did not believe that story, as he was saying I can’t get an erection and could only bottom. There is no way this story is true, I do not recall any session where I could not get hard and most of my clients look for me to top them in fact. One of the reasons I stay here. To share my experience:  There’s no correlation between being physically attractive and being sexy in bed. None whatsoever. Being sexy is about having self confidence, empathy and intuition. Plus some humour, intelligence and communication skills.

My experience with porn stars has actually been pretty good.  As examples, Josh Weston (RIP) and Rafael Alencar were both very nice guys and great experiences.  Saw both more than once.

This forum is just a slice of the whole population. There will always be some shallow, un-self-aware, or even malevolent people in any group. They stand out because of their behaviour. They spoil the view of course but they do serve to highlight the contrast of the good stuff that exists if you can keep them in check.
I see ignorant comments where guys resort to ad hominem attacks when they can’t argue the point. (That usually gets stopped by the moderators).  I also see some quite astonishing ignorance and prejudice about working in the business which sometimes I try to address but then I get told I’m wrong by guys who aren’t providers (strange word btw). Then there’s those who are purely superficial who comment on providers looks as if that’s all the guy has to offer. It’s all here. 
I have to go back to my point about this place being a microcosm of society. The trouble is society is pretty bad right now where we have leaders who display all of those characteristics: shallow, bombastic, disregarding of experience and expertise, and even sometimes malevolent. Is it any wonder those of a similar nature feel emboldened when they see supposed leaders behaving like this? 
I know politics isn’t allowed…(moderators please don’t take this down!) but I’m not taking a political side: leaders of right and left are like it. I’m pointing out that when we ignore or hide from these bad actors we allow them to grow and become emboldened. Eventually you run out of hiding places and have to tackle them, so you should never let them get away with it. Ridicule them, hold the mirror up, argue, undermine and challenge them.

It has. But in that it has also been illuminating. For me I guess the question that follows is - if this is a largest batch of clients, and the environment is so toxic that providers chose to stay away rather than engage- what can we do about that? To me at least, this is a sign that should come to moderators, but also us collectively as a community. 
More than one poster here has pointed at one person in particular. 
I have been often confused when someone posts a 411 about a provider to then see the posts that follow often just be comments for others as to why they don't find the provider attractive, rather than people commenting on actual experiences with the provider.  It seems strange, like if I was showing a group of friends a shirt I wanted to buy, i wouldn't expect them all to tell me why they think it is horrible and they themselves would never wear it. I have called out people for this before 'no one asked if you like him, we asked if you have experience with him', and often a chorus of people telling me to get of my high horse. perhaps the community needs to be more vocal and self policing of these kinds of comments. 
I would say the line is - criticizing an experience, a behavior = fine. critiquing body/looks/likes/dislikes = not fine. It's not actually that difficult or a stretch of social norms to adhere to.

Loosing @BenjaminNicholas and @Simon Suraci on this forum should be a huge wake up call to all of the members on CoM. These providers are the ultimate professionals in every sense of the word. Even as a fairly new member, I found their posts to be extremely valuable and helpful in the hobby we all claim to love. I will greatly miss their presence, humor, intellect and their life experiences. 
 
Going forward, I hope this community can be more patient, kind and supportive of the providers and other clients that are active on these forums.

On that issue...  When you're familiar with both parties, and you watch this kind of dispute unfold here, it's a real cautionary tale for providers.  It takes very little for a client to come for your reputation and livelihood in a public and libelous (thank you @PhileasFogg) way.  
Also, I'm fairly certain the question here wasn't: Should these things be allowed?  The question was: Why don't providers participate more?
