I don't see any reason to tell anyone that. I do usually say something along the lines of: "I realize this a last-minute request and that you're most likely business. But I was wondering if you're free at xx p.m. tonight? I'd love to make an appointment if you happen to still have your calendar open." And most of the time, it's because I found myself without plans and horny. Not a last-minute backout of someone already set up.

I've only been with a handful providers who were already established porn stars. One who comes to mind is Andrew Justice. To me, he was better in person than on the screen. His videos did not capture, to me, how much fun he was in person. I've also hired Scott DeMarco, and he was really good. He also seemed hotter in person as well. And neither of them charged much of a "fame tax." And in each case, I learned of them first from their escort ad and then later looked up their videos. Then there are a few who I saw pop up later in porn after I hired them. That can be a fun surprise. What I've never done is hire the likes of a Rafael Alancar -- already well-known to me and someone I liked to watch. I'm not against it, but just haven't had the scheduling/money opportunity. Whether I'd hire a major porn star depends on how much of "fame tax" is involved (like I'd consider a $100 fame tax; probably not $200) and just how much I've enjoyed that person's performances. But I've been with enough guys who did both to realize that you can't 100% equate what you get in a video with what you can expect in person.

This is one reason I don't travel to another city for brief appointments. I take what's available where I am and try to develop about four or five regulars. If I'm traveling with this kind of thing in mind, I do it at a place such as New York City where there will be plenty of backups -- and other fun, nonsexual things to do. I've also never traveled exclusively to meet a provider. That person might be a major reason, but not the only one. If I have an open day, I will tell providers with whom I am just booking for an hour that I am flexible on time if they can get another short appointment in that I'm glad to change the time with a couple of hours of notice. As far as I know, I've never been ditched for an overnight. But I also book mostly same-day appointments.

I think for younger folks, time and appointments are more fluid.

I've also found that punctuality is generally less important to providers younger than 30 than those older. Though I must say I've found notable exceptions to both rules. That's yet one more reason I tend to go with guys in their 30s and older; odds are better they'll keep the appointment and be on time. I rarely hire below 25 for a variety of reasons. Punctuality is just one of them.

Contacting me first if you're going to be running late goes a long way with me. I'm much more willing to extend out the time (within limits) if I'm not having to track down the situation.

I usually have them come to me, and I realize there can be traffic issues, parking issues and such. I'll grant more leeway on that depending on the guy. Up to an hour. If I'm in a hotel lobby, I generally will wait about 20 minutes max with no text or contact all. If I'm not hearing anything by then, I'm out. And I'll grant about 20 more minutes if there is an issue. But 40 minutes is pretty much my max. I usually do two confirmations after an appointment is set. So say I make an appointment at noon for a meeting at 9 p.m. Around 6 p.m, I'll confirm I'm still good to meet. Then I'll confirm I'm leaving my place if I go to the provider. If the provider is coming to me, I ask him to let me know when he's on the way. And sometimes, I'll send an "in-progess" text if I'm hitting bad traffic, etc., if I'm traveling. Communication is key. I don't mind waiting for a legit reason. But do not leave me in the dark.

I think he took a hiatus and came back with a name change. Honestly, I've meant to reach out to him for an appointment but just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm not a provider, but for what it's worth: I'd imagine they would appeal only to a niche market. However, within that niche market, I'd suspect interested clients would make up for any gap they may experience offer only limited services.
