"Marriage" is a relationship that can be either legal or figurative. Many people rush to make it legal too quickly, and end up in what is really a so-called "trial marriage," from which it can be difficult to disentangle oneself. Unfortunately, social and religious custom, or one of the partners, often push a couple to make a legal commitment too soon. I am actually glad that same sex marriages didn't become legally possible until my partner and I had been together for forty-five years and were certain that marriage was right for us.

I think the statistics still prove that your earning potential is much higher with college (or trade school) education. It is true that things have gotten much more competitive at the Ivy level, however, there are still great affordable choices in the state schools. I am a VP at a large organization, started my career and community college, went to work, earned my bachelor's at night (having my employer pay for half of it), and just a few years ago completed my MBA and a top state school program, which cost $39,000 and I paid cash.  Point is, there are lots of pathways to education…. We tend to think of higher education as a binary thing… Go directly from high school, go to top school, have mom and dad pay. There are many alternative, affordable, and accessible choices out there.

During the current cold snap in the PNW, gas fireplace on and heat pump downstairs to reach a cozy 67 while it’s currently 16 outside. Fortunately we return to more temperate island weather starting Monday. Like others, I like sleeping in a cold bedroom (when alone!).

One guy whose xtube (and now JustForFans) I was a fan of is JIZZONE. He was famous for his cruising sexcapade videos all over SoCal, Florida, Palm Springs etc. I'm not sure if it's the same location but a few of his videos were at a place like this. A random desert, where down a side road guys would park and then walk in a bit and all the action would happen in the open. Guys even got creative and built a few random cabanas and play areas where guys would go if they wanted to be shielded or lay back and rest.
Its definitely on the west coast somewhere and considering it's the desert I'm guessing its around there.

To my surprise, I didn't hear any of the usual illegal fireworks in the desert behind my house last night. I went to bed at 9pm. expecting to be awakened by the explosions at midnight, but instead slept soundly through the night. My dog was pleased, too, because he was able to sleep on the bed instead of under it, where he usually goes when the booms start.

I was; lived in the house for 3 years.  Glad I did it; still some close friends (although generally still regularly closer to friends from high school).  My father's best lifelong friends were his fraternity brothers, which is what lead me to join.
We were not the jock house, but we were the 'cocaine connection' for our Greek system for sure.  We were a 'mixed' house, e.g., 50% wasp, 50% Jewish.  Most of the guys were normal-looking and subdued, but lots of under-the-radar wealthy guys.  Went to some amazing parties at their parents' estates.
Our hazing was funny, rather than harsh, although there was a lot of calisthenics (and drinking of VERY cheap beer; I still can't stomach Meister Brau or Mickey's Big Mouth).
There was a semi-closeted, very small gay contingent; they were more 'tolerated' rather than celebrated, but as I neglected to say above, it was the mid to late 80's.  The only thing close to guy/guy action I witness personally was a three-way with a very attractive woman, and I did not participate and was present for less than a minute (although invited to join in LOL).  One of our brothers was the first person from our school to die in the AIDS epidemic - or at least that was acknowledged he died of AIDS complications.  I never connected with anyone in the house in a physically intimate manner.
One brother of mine is now living with me off-and-on.  His wife keeps kicking him out of the house.  I was in their wedding and know her, and it's 80% on her IMHO.  He's straight and we are not physically intimate (for those inclined to speculate LOL).

Many of the men who hung out at public restrooms and porn shops fifty years ago were married. In 1970, the average man married at age 22-23, so that makes sense.
A book on glory holes/men's rooms, Tearoom Trade, came out at that time. The author took down license plate numbers at a local men's room, had a cop friend run the plates, and showed up at the unsuspecting cruisers' homes posing as a public health official taking a routine survey. As you say, some of the married  men he talked to were traditional masc guys who claimed their wives didn't like sex. Others said they were perfectly satisfied with their sex lives. Most of the  single men were either looking for underaged guys or were semi-openly gay.

I dated a frat guy from another school. The older guys hazed really hard; they woke up the pledges to go buy cigarettes, etc. In my innocence, I asked my boyfriend why he didn't just tell the older guys to screw themselves. He replied that hazing is part of every job, so we should all get used to it.

I liked the close bonds between the guys, so I decided to join a sorority.  Like all the Greek orgs at my school, it was new and non-residential. Also, there was a firm no hazing policy. I wish I had devoted more time to it.
It's wild that there are SAE guys here. They were so...straight

back in the early 80s when blow-dried hair was a thing, Sig Ep (Sigma Phi Epsilon) was nicknamed Sigma Phi Hair Salon by all the other fraternities on my campus.....of course, each house had a rep for having certain types and, obviously, Sig Ep was known for well-coiffed, preppy, good-looking, WASPy guys....(no, I wasn't Sig Ep!)
and we always reminded our rushees/pledges that it's a fraternity, not a frat, because would you call your country a c**t??!!.....

Delta Sigma Phi, at Florida Institute of Technology, in the early 70s. It being a technical school, pledge tasks were biased towards rewarding imaginative ways of satisfying the challenge.
For example, one of the brothers set two pledges the task of 'separating a pile of punch-card chad'. One pledge laboriously sorted them by the numbers printed on them, but then ran into trouble differentiating between the ones with a 6 from those with a 9. The other pledge immediately hatcheted the pile with his hand, and split the one big pile into two smaller ones.
During the Greek Week competitions, there was a kite-flying event. My frat decided to make the biggest kite, and worry about flying it later. Materials included 4 tarps, a bunch of wooden quarter-round moldings, u-bolts, and duct tape. When it was completed, and brothers were holding it for launch, one of the crew realized that in a 5-mph breeze at a 10° angle, the force would far exceed the strength of the cord we were using. But that didn't matter, because the people holding the rear didn't hear the signal to release the thing, and it folded up in a glorious mess.
