Who said that STEM talent was more innate? Why is it laughable that it takes more time to develop—and what part of the Google study disproves it? BTW, was the Google study about engineers only or about employees as a whole (UI designers, bus dev, executives, admins)? If the latter, why is the conclusion surprising?

That was exactly my situation too.

Talent in literature takes time to develop, while ability in math and science becomes evident much earlier. Mathematicians usually peak in their 20s. That said, many math and science prodigies don't live up to their initial promise.

Is that true for psychoanalysts too? How would I ask for that?

I'll answer my own question. The problem with being attracted to the guy is that it makes me want to edit what I say, which obviously defeats the entire point. It sure is motivating though. Interesting perspective. I hadn't thought of the interaction with a therapist as an experiment.

Is it bad that I fantasized about him? We're not even at the transference stage yet!

This guy seems to have a lot of training in psychoanalysis. I share the same doubts about this method, but the fit appears good (for now), and I felt that the fit is more important than the method. This is my first time doing this other an a couple of CBT sessions right after college, so I have to learn as I go. As for insurance, that's irrelevant for me as he doesn't take it, and my HMO doesn't cover out of network.
