Exactly! I have no issue with paying to access the site; if they did this to get more paying members, they should make it easier to “anonymously” pay (eg by using a Visa gift card etc).

I know an Orthodox Jewish couple, and I was 98% sure the husband was gay until I met his then-girlfriend (who I would have thought to be lesbian had I met her first). I know EXACTLY why my organization supports this candidate, and why so many others do as well. In this particular situation, there was no need to support ANY candidate since doing so alienates a large number of its members and displays an insensitivity to a people without whom the organization would likely not even exist. ETA: A slightly exaggerated comparison would be the NAACP endorsing a former KKK member. This former KKK member might claim not to be racist and otherwise have policies that align perfectly with the NAACP’s values, but it doesn’t undo the past.

I totally agree! For context, my original post had nothing to do with a bias in media- I was upset because an organization I belong to is endorsing a political candidate who makes me feel unsafe. I then got even more upset when I received an email from the organization stating that it was the first time in their over a century of existence endorsing ANY candidate for this position. While of course the media shapes my perception of this candidate (and leads others to strongly support them), it is a fact that the organization is endorsing for the first time in its long history.

Absolutely! I am in my mid 30s and had never really felt this before. And then, a few days later, I had almost forgotten about the news that upset me, when I received an email that not just reminded me but gave me context that made me even more upset! I’m fine now; I was frankly more upset by my reactions to the news than to the news itself.

None of the above- I message only via RM. If the provider insists on communicating via phone or WhatsApp, I move on.

Exactly! When I think of all the time I used to waste on the apps to no avail, hiring is significantly more cost-effective.

1. Convenience- hiring allows me to select a guy who can host in a convenient location at a convenient time. No endless back and forth or messaging dozens of guys with no responses. 2. Safety- a guy with reviews on here and RM is more vetted than a stranger on an app. 3. Sexual health- providers are more likely to get tested often (and be on prep etc) as their careers depend on it. I also have less apprehension requiring condoms since I’m the one paying and thus calling the shots. 4. Activities- I can engage in whatever (consensual) activities I like without fear of judgement or worrying about pleasing my partner (though of course I still want him to have a good time). And their sexual prowess and experience allows them to better work with my relative inexperience. 5. Attractiveness- I can select a guy with any “look” I’m in the mood for and who would not be likely to give me time of day on an app.

This has been a major issue with every message board I have ever participated in, including incredibly niche ones where one would expect everyone to not just be nice but agree with each other… it’s par for the course.

I’ll try to give more details without breaking forum rules… An organization that I belong to posted an endorsement of a political candidate whose being in power would make me and many others feel unsafe. This organization is not obligated to endorse ANY candidate for any office, but still decided to post an endorsement of this candidate, even knowing (I’m sure) that many of its members would be against it and feel the same way I do. This also means that the dues we pay to this organization will be funding advertising for this candidate. But the worst part was not the comments on the post in support of this, but the fact that the handful of comments against it (and there would be more if people including myself weren’t afraid of getting blacklisted) were constantly being shut down and even labeled as spam.

Today, I saw a piece of news online that very much upset me… I was furiously reading all of the comments and kept going back to check on them. It completely ruined my day! And then I did some introspection: a couple years ago, the same kind of news would have made me think “that kind of sucks” and then I would have stopped thinking about it. Has anyone else been experiencing this sort of shift in the news having a much bigger impact than it used to? Why do we think that is?

Definitely ask! I had a guy who had “ask me” listed as his position quote me an exorbitant extra charge for providing oral… I declined. Prior to that, I had assumed that it was a given that anyone providing escort services to men would give oral unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Continuing for the next few weeks will allow people who either haven’t seen it yet or want to see it again a chance to do so. Usually sales go up after a closing announcement, so they would be losing the revenue from what would probably be a profitable few weeks. I wish Boop had stuck around a few more weeks, as well.
