  1. I'm old enough to remember that when someone wanted to commemorate an important event, they'd send a telegram. Even though they could just as easily (or more easily) make a phone call. The telegram represented importance and status, and would often be read out loud at a gathering such as a wedding. Perhaps the MadMen campaign (or likely a similar one in real life) worked its magic into the public consciousness!
  2. The push notifications for the RM chats seldom if ever work, so the provider is not aware of there being a message unless he logs in. Whereas if it’s a text directly to him, he’ll see it right away. I try to check in on my RM chats a few times a day. But it’s frustrating to find a chat with something like “are you available this afternoon” when I’m only just checking hours later. But I still like the RM chat feature for the reasons mentioned, particularly if the client has added info to their profile. It works fine for hires that are further out in the future and there is more time for back and forth.
  3. I think you’re on the right track here. Maybe at least five photos. They don’t need to show your face but should give a sense of what you’re like. I don’t think you need to worry about the notecards with your profile… usually the catfishing involves too-good-to-be-true Instagram type images, and almost always show the guy’s face. With your faceless pics people will just assume you’re wanting to be discreet. Speaking of discreet, you could mention in your ad text something about discretion being important to you, and that you’ll offer that in return. That will help explain the faceless pics, and will also offer assurance to clients who may also value privacy. Small town after all! As for what’s changed in 2023, I’m not sure how long you’ve been away, but the biggest change is probably the communication styles. Lots more text exchanges than years ago. There’s no shortage of discussions in that regard on this forum!
  4. The advantage of a hire vs a hookup is you can be more direct if you’d like. He’s there to provide you a service, on your terms. If he walks in the door and you want to jump his bones right then and there, you can do it! Or if you want to take it slow, chat and maybe have a drink first, that’s your call too. You don’t need to be too worried about what he might think the way you might with a hookup. Of course don’t be a jerk since he’s a person too, but don’t be afraid to ask for what you’d like.
  5. Really wonderful series, very poignant and moving. The last scene (I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen it) brought tears to my eyes.
  6. If you’d like, send me a message through messenger and I’ll let you know if it comes through.
  7. Maybe I'm old fashioned or had learned this from my mom, but I thought it's customary to provide service folks with small gifts or bonuses this time of year. A little cash or something to the mail carrier, paperboy (if there is still such a thing), hairdresser/barber, cleaners, etc. So I'd think if an escort or massage provider is a regular, a small gift would be in keeping with this tradition. Of course there is passion involved with an escort/masseur's services so that might confuse things a bit, but a bit of extra cash or a small gift seems just fine.
  8. As someone with a December birthday, this resonates! 🤣
  9. I've been monitoring this thread, as I expect has @mike carey. It's definitely veering towards politics, and has been on a number of occasions. I'm OK with leaving it up as it has not become explicitly political, though I'll admit I'm tired of hearing the same old tropes over and over again. I'd be more inclined to lock it up just because everyone has already said their piece, and I'm not sure what more is to be said. That is the reason I've stopped engaging in this thread myself.
  10. My arrangement is similar to those described by @Charlie and @Simon Suraci. When we first met, his income was much higher than mine. Mine is now a bit higher than his. At one point we added up all of the joint expenses, figured out who had which account in whose name, and figured out what the differential is. I pay more of the monthly payments like the mortgage, PG&E, insurance etc., so he transfers funds into my account at the beginning of the month to cover his share and provide me with enough money to pay those bills. Groceries, restaurants, entertainment etc. are more on the honor system, we trade off unless it becomes unusually out of balance. Sometimes he'll let me know he's bought most of the groceries for a while, so I'll transfer some money back, or vice versa, but we're not keeping close tabs.
  11. I think you should be OK. Just head towards Palm Springs directly from LAX and you'll probably beat the worst of the traffic. If the traffic's bad you can take a break and grab lunch, but otherwise just go direct.
  12. This is correct. The age field is static, so it does not automatically update when someone ages another year or four. And for the record, the youngest age available in the field is 18. Perhaps the guy was 19 when he signed up and he hasn't updated the field since, or perhaps he's "young at heart" and would like to still think he is 19. Who knows? I just had my birthday last week and duly added a year to the age in my rentmen ad, but had to do that manually.
  13. Anyone here have experience with AI image generator apps? This is for my non-escort work, I'm looking for an app for graphic design work. There are so many out there so hoping someone might have some favorites.

    Grindr Rant

I caught this program on the radio last weekend, it was an episode of the "Radiolab" program that featured a bizarre story about a guy's experience being harassed through Grindr. And Grindr refused to do a damn thing. The first part is about the Grindr adventure. Then it gets into a discussion of Section 230, which may or may not be interesting to people. But it's worth checking out! The Internet Dilemma RADIOLAB.ORG How the law that created the modern Internet may be destroying it—and us.
  15. Yes, forget LAX, Burbank or Ontario, particularly if you're returning Monday morning. The Coachella festival is the same weekend, and the Monday traffic jam heading back towards LA is legendary. If for some reason PSP isn't working for you, the only suggestion I'd have is fly into San Diego and rent a car. You'll still get into some traffic but nothing like the traffic going in and out of LA. And the route over the mountain from Temecula to Palm Desert is beautiful and fun to drive if you're in a sports car.
  16. Thank you everybody! This is a great surprise, I had not checked in til just now. Very grateful to have you all as friends!
  17. I’m also a pre-cummer, so I’m not going to object if the other guy is too. But then I’m happily biased!
  18. For what it's worth, depending on what state you're in Clearview allows various opt-outs. Of course the way one opts out is to provide a face pic, which seems a bit sketchy... sort of like handing the wolf keys to the hen house. But it's available nevertheless. 19. For me, I don't mind if someone is rubbing one out to my pictures. I take it as a compliment! 😛
  20. For some providers, there is an understanding that it is not OK to reach out to a client without being contacted first. This might be old-school, as there is lots of discussion about providers reaching out after having been viewed on RM, or contacting clients proactively. But for many like myself, it's considered an invasion of privacy to make unsolicited contact. My exceptions are like as @ICTJOCK mentions, someone has checked out my profile a whole bunch of times so I figure something must have got their interest. Or if their profile invites providers to contact them I'll reach out. Or if traveling I'll let former clients know I'll be visiting. But otherwise I try to be discreet and wait for the client to approach. If you're wanting providers to contact you if they are interested, put something in your profile that invites it. You could even describe a bit of what you're looking for, and invite those who fit the bill to get in touch.
  21. I've stayed at both Santiago and Descanso. As @sam.fitzpatrick mentioned, they are under the same ownership, as is Twin Palms. I was thinking of trying out Twin Palms this year just to do the full trifecta, but decided on InnDulge. Santiago and Descanso have comparably good service and quality. Staff are very friendly and helpful, and the properties are well maintained. If I recall Santiago is a bit more lushly landscaped. Santiago is a larger resort, and with that comes a more expansive social scene. Descanso has a more intimate scale. Both have pools and hot tubs so you're not missing anything at one versus the other. Sometimes it just comes down to availability, which one has rooms. I can't speak for Twin Palms since I've never been there, but you can't go wrong with either Santiago or Descanso and I expect Twin Palms would be good as well.
  22. That’s the one! So perhaps good times are here again… 😝
  23. I checked out my listing using a browser that was not logged into my rentmen account, and at least for my own listing the full-frontal pic is still missing on rentmen.eu. But maybe others are having better luck!
  24. I visited that place many times back in the day. It was referred to as "the hot tubs." Private rooms with a hot tub, shower, and bed. Not great but not awful, and it served a purpose. However the place closed several years ago. Meanwhile the day stay apps have become a better option for when it's not possible to host.
  25. I too have been wondering if we’re all being played here. But having been on the receiving end of some stalking, I know it happens.
