I'm thinking it probably depends on how far in advance you are reaching out to them.
I also travel a bit for work, and often check out what is on offer in the city I am heading to. I think a weeks notice is good - I message by text 'hey saw your profile, I will be in town next week, a bit about me - I am (insert height/weight/age/sexual position). do you have any time between Wednesday-Friday that works for you, and can you let me know your rates?"
I have a lot of success with this formula. I think if you reach out with 'hello how are you?" then they reply and find out you are not looking until next month, they move on to people who are require more immediate attention.  It's best to put it all out there upfront. If I don't get a reply for a day or two, I can move on to my next preference.

I always give at least a 24 hour notice and send $100 deposit. Any reputable provider will honor the commitment or reimburse you if he cannot accommodate.

I thought you were done with this thread.
You have nothing more to offer- we have heard what you have said. You have spent significantly more time flogging this than the 30 min he asked you to wait, which says a lot more about you than it does Dustin. Get over yourself.

I wouldn't even call my own family without texting first.
If an unknown number called me I would never ever answer it.  Even worse if it was a private number.
Always text first - it is good manners.

its so funny to me to see the OP make a comment like this.  I had a dreadful and actually scary experience with a provider in a VERY similar way - I showed up and he was high on drugs, aggressive and threatening me if I did pay in full  (I did pay in full, after 5 minutes and left)  and posted here to warn others, and after I  posted the warning about it  @PileDriver admonished me, telling me I should be kinder/how dare I say this etc. He even wrote another big thread called "Ugly Clients and Providers With Substance Problems"  about how we need to be kinder to drug addicts who threaten us.  This has now given me the biggest chuckle.
I guess he only gets upset or thinks people need warnings when it happens to him.

I recently had an issue with this. Provider showed up looking nothing like his pics (I saw after they had been uploaded nearly 10 years ago) Also had an awful experience with him. provider blocked me before he even left, and then pretended we had never met as if I didn't show up. I had to get security footage of my building to show we did meet, and show text messages proving provider was lying. Then the provider updated his photos and RM response was 'we are taking the review down as we have confirmed he does look like his pics NOW."
I had to go back and forth for a long time before getting the review back up - but I did NOT back down until it was up there. They made me change 'not like photos' to 'photos were outdated' or some such nonsense. The provider eventually returned the money he stole and I took review down to be done with it.

Four pages of advice, the dream scenario falls right into your lap, and you balk at $350? That’s a bargain compared to what guys charge in bigger cities. Why even approach him, let alone post, if you weren’t serious enough to follow through?

Actually, that did happen (sort of) as I finally met up with him today. Finally. After waiting to hear back from him all week.
As I said earlier this week, I reached out to him via text (I ended up texting him twice) and heard nothing back all week. I left it at that - if he was interested in detailing my car, get back to me. I didn't hear from him, so I left it alone. I assumed he was busy or didn't want to do my car. No big deal.
This morning I was outside and he came across to talk to me as he pulled up in front of his house. He apologized for not getting back to me, and said he was 'visiting friends out of state' so this past week wouldn't have worked. He's around the next few days and gave me a price of $150 for detailing, which (of course) he'd do right in my driveway. I was direct with him on that, and told him I would give it more thought as the price was a little more than I thought I'd need to spend on detailing (again, maybe I'm wrong but I was thinking more $100 plus tip.) He was fine with the answer, and seemed to understand.  At that point, I figured before he turned around and went back home, I should ask him about RM - why not ? I considered all the responses here, and agreed with the fact that he's offering his services and I'm a customer looking for his services. It's called business.
'Before you go - I have one more thing to ask you...' So I told him I saw his ad, and I was interested in an appointment with him. He didn't have much of a reaction except the raised eyebrows, and just said, 'OK - Cool'  I told him I didn't need a response now, and  asked if he thought it would be awkward, and I told him I would understand if he said 'No'. He said, ' Awkward? Not at all.' He asked what I was looking for , I told him, and he said with a smile, 'I promise we'll have a good time. Let's do it! When were you thinking ?'  But before we planned a day and time, I needed to know how much he charged and asked him. He quoted me $350 which (once again) was more than I was expecting or budgeted for these encounters (we all have our $ limits). I didn't ask him to lower the price, but I did tell him that was more than what I usually pay for 'this hobby'.  He smiled and told me he was definitely worth it, and I assured him he probably was - but I couldn't do it at this time. He was understanding and told me if I changed my mind to give him a call and he'd be over. 'Nothing awkward' he assured me. He gave me his 'bro hug' and headed back to his house. It went well, overall.
So to have him detail my car and have an hour appointment with him would set me back $500 minimum. As much as I'd love to employ him, I simply can't afford him at this time for both or either services. I may regret it in the future, but that's $500 I can spend on more important stuff right now, not a hobby or making my car sparkle.  *sigh*

Ali Gator, have you heard of a website called Nifty.org ?

Your fictional short stories about the numerous hunky shirtless boys/men in your hood “availing” themselves for your sexual pleasure are better suited posted on Nifty.org than a legitimate message board discussing escort issues/questions.

“Hot neighbors son escorting” is poorly written fantasy not based on reality.
