While never having children, I have seen my share raised by family, friends, and peers. I've witnessed children of the same generation behave very differently. I think @DWnyc and @DrownedBoy both hit the nail on the head.
Empathy is certainly the skill that allows people to be respectful and understanding of other's differences and sacrifices.
But lack of empathy is far from simply "generational" or a "symptom" of youth. Like most everything in life, empathy is learned skill. Children who are raised poorly are going to take most things for granted when they leave the home they were raised in. I assume it will take another 10 to 20 years for them to learn that skill. While children who are raised well have a good foundation for empathy, and they continue to further develop that skill for a long time.

Part of the rationale for providers is service on demand. If a straight or bi  provider claims they can deliver regardless of to whom, they’re as qualified as anyone else.
The question for me isn’t are you gay or not, but can you provide an experience I want once we confirm terms. Once a provider - gay bi or whatever - starts asking for photo, says “it depends” for some services, I strike them off any consideration as they aren’t hiding they likely can’t. Then we can avoid the runaround where they expect payment without delivering.

We have got to get away from the stigma surrounding the hobby for both providers and clients. Otherwise why are we here on this forum?
With the tech / apps available to us now the average gay male can have as much sex as the most active provider and more, if he chooses, without any money changing hands. 

The average provider may actually be better behaved ,needing to  keep himself presentable to clients with the ability to pay for a luxury experience. And certainly better protected (informed) than the more DL / inexperienced among clients.

Come on, let’s not ostracize or expel, whatever we may think individually or as the major part of our demographic. Isn’t that what the fundamental fight was / is / always will be?
Let the man have his say, agree / disagree, and remember if he’s gone the bar for unacceptability starts falling to the point where we as individuals may also eventually be targets.

When the subject has come up I’ve often been told im not what providers expected. But it seems to be about behavior / carrying one’s self rather than age / body / race / etc

Also - a question for providers - is it common to list yourself as bi even if you're almost completely gay? I've met a lot of people (both in the real world and RM) who seem to do that. I'm guessing it signals more masculinity,

I DISAGREE.  It's each person's job to educate themselves, take action to protect themselves and make educated choices...that includes accepting known risks.   If this person was not on preventative meds themselves, that was their choice, and they must accept the consequences of their decision. 
Having gestapo enforcing STD transmission is akin to what's happening with abortion right now....do we want the government tracking everyone who has STDs and their sexual partners?  Absurd.

But yeah, this topic has been well-worn here and realistically, legalization isn't happening anytime soon.
I know people who have gotten HIV from Grindr trade.  Getting a disease takes no talent...  Just the idiocy of not protecting yourself.

As my posts here indicate, I tend to have an aversion to the attitude held by many younger providers. I'm hiring them less and less, and only when I have a good expectation that they'll act more responsible.
I could go into "grumpy old man" mode, and repeat everything about how younger providers tend to be entitled, arrogant, overpriced, and irresponsible, not to mention their inability to follow a schedule.
However, as an openly gay man, the biggest attitude factor is that gay youth nowadays have a lot more privileges, acceptance, and opportunities than I and other older gays did at that age. So I see a lot of them as selfish ingrates who don't recognize how much work and pain older gay men had to go through to create the society they enjoy now. And selfish, uneducated ingratitude will make me lose a hard-on faster than anything.
