You’re buying a fantasy and the providers are concerned that they have to age shave particularly at older ages. If they can carry off the fantasy regardless of their chronological age, it doesn’t concern me. There are far more important things that can be misrepresented.

I joined his OF for a month. He just seemed really haggard in his content and I decided not to go any further.

Depends. Hagen makes a good point about expectations of different sorts of regulars and there probably also are guys who have unrealistic expectations of intimacy and friendship. Not every “regular” relationship will evolve in the same way. Guys who derive a lot of their income from travel may not see someone “often” but may see them on every visit or every few visits to their city, being a regular can be more elastic for them than for someone who rarely travels.

Many clients, myself included start by showing interest and avoiding specific asks right away (I saw your ad, I’m interested in in/out, x dates/times work for me, I’m traveling/local) and offering to answer any questions.

The tone hasn't exactly "invited" a response. You can look up the poster's history--they've been around and don't appear to be a sock puppet. If you want actual dialogue, you should ask for it. This happens over and over again---someone has a dissenting opinion and it's treated as though its no more or less valid than anything positive. There have been popular guys who turned out to be not so nice to clients, but their critics had to put up with this nonsense before that became apparent.

A good summary. The OF model seems to be evolving with more pay per video which, in the long run only works if they produce a regular stream of content. The typical OF claims weekly updates but often don’t even manage to do them monthly. My guess is that we’ll continue on 5he road of a small number of prolific OF a producers who do well and the laggards will come to be easier to spot and less lucrative for their creators.
Pornstars use OF as an adjunct to their career or a way to extend their ability to monetize it, much as they used to use escorting for this purpose. The non-OF pornstar escorts tend to be from the pre-OF area. Still, if OF becomes less lucrative then I think we may see more new pornstars escorting again.
I think the pricing volatility has a lot to do with COVID and the absence of an active market for a couple years. Things will settle down, but prices won’t be as low as they used to be.

I was working in Asia during SARS, the level of hysteria was less even though the risk of mortality was greater. Hopefully, the drop in demand will allow you to book a hotel at an advantageous, cancellable rate. I'd follow the situation on BBC and NHK (the Japanese equivalent of BBC) and ignore the US news media---they don't have good science/health reporting and infotainment/ill-founded hysteria is their brand. NHK in English is on many cable networks and has an online feed.

Kamakura is a great day trip from Tokyo and very easy---frequent trains in the am. Get off at Kita-Kamakura and do the walk through gardens and temples to Kamakura town and the Great Buddha. Return via Kamakura station. The gardens are incredible--they don't look like much from the road but inside are very complex and serene. The walk from Kita Kamakura is about 1 1/2 -2 miles. The Lonelyplanet guide for Tokyo should have the specifics.

Tokyo has lots of quirky museums, as well as an excellent cluster of art and history museums in the Ueno---which has a major rail station. The National Museum is the real gem. Unfortunately, it and some other museums are closed until at least mid-March https://www.timeout.com/tokyo/things-to-do/attractions-in-tokyo-and-japan-that-are-closed-due-to-covid-19-coronavirus

I was going through some books and found my copy of "Hustling". It's quick read--Preston was a fine writer with economical prose. Many of the specifics are dated (agencies, hustler bars), but his understanding of clients and his respect for the diversity and variation in sexual experience seem relevant. I remember Aaron Lawrence dismissing the book as "dated" (and, of course promoting his own book), but missing that Preston was talking about human interaction and broad business principles. I read Lawrence's book in a couple sittings and it was clear that he didn't respect his clients. Given that he veered off into crappy born and general attention seeking, I'm guessing he either made a pile with good investments or did something dumb like buy gold at the wrong time.

I have a couple advanced degrees and spend my days with people who are similarly educated. Some are interesting and some are not. I don’t think providers need to provide a lot of details about their education but it may help to know if they have a bachelors or a graduate degree. More important to me is whether they have some curiosity as opposed to paper credentials. I have hired providers who did not seem well educated but did seem interested in the world around them and other people—they were much better company than many highly educated people I know.
