The worst part is that guys can’t link to their own sites. A great work around would be for guys to be able to put their Twitter/tumblr/instagram accounts in the contact section. That way the can basically just say, “for more information about what I’m interested in, check my tumblr account.”

And once a guy stops paying for an ad, the link goes away, the same as their number.

Based on the actions or Reddit, will Twitter, Tumblr and Instagram accounts for escorts be scrubbed as well?

I can't see that happening because Reddit had a section devoted to escorts. The other sites are based on accounts. You have to go profile to profile looking for what you want.

The worst they can do is not accept # that are connected to prostitution

I don’t really use any of those sites. Is it feasible that they could employ an internal search mechanism for key word like “escort”, etc to identify those accounts and deal with them on an individual basis? Particularly if they discuss their escorting business. RM has a Twitter account. I can’t imagine that Twitter would allow it to remain given the nature of their business.

They can if they want to waste there time and money. But I can just not beat around the bush and write, "I have sex for money." Which word will they get rid of or search for; 'I' 'have' 'sex' 'for' or 'money.'

These sites have less to worry about because it's a bunch of varied accounts. Someone can fine their account and ask for it to be removed, but it'll have to be done one by one.

Anyway, if they're going to spend money to search and remove account, they should start with Russian Bots not escorts.

Just recieved an email this morning from the Rentmen webmaster, stating

"We would like to inform you that due to some recently introduced legal requirements in your region, your About Me text was reviewed and may be modified.

Be aware, that any text that promotes escort services or other services that may be interpreted as providing sexual acts in exchange for compensation is strictly forbidden, including information about rates or donations. It is not allowed to publish phone numbers, email addresses or external links, except personal websites.

If you need any clarifications, please contact us!

Thank you for your understanding!

Your RentMen team"

They removed some text that was a quote from a client making reference to "being inside him" and also a reference to "being comfortable with whatever the clients safety preference is". They still allow me to list my website, which is all I really care about, as I ultimately prefer that clients reach out to me through there. I'm sure if you haven't recieved a similar message from them, and your text contains anything objectionable, you will soon.

I guess people will just have use personal text as the main commuication platform instead of RM. The RM platform will be good for getting basic info then all other communications will be by personal text.

That's true, but I would also encourage all that plan to be doing this work for at least 5 years, to create a professional website. Using Wix, it can be done over a weekend, and having you're own web presence is invaluable.

Yeah. That's definitely great advice, and I think a smart move for most people. The issue I have is like.. I guess at this point at least, I'm not really planning on doing this at that level. I don't really want to get into self-advertising with social media or anything. I'd much, much rather pay a fee to be posted with a reputable site.

An just to make sure I'm not marked as a guy looking for cheap thrills, my threshold is $300. But I've been seeing more and more guys asking for $400 and more. I hate NY!

I’m glad you threw numbers out there. I had someone text me Friday who said “forget it” when I told him my rate was $250. Made me think I was asking too much but really I thought that was average. And I was even willing to travel to Queens!

Jeesh... a link has been removed from my RM client profile. The whole bottom paragraph was hacked out, my heading was changed and the top paragraph was heavily edited.

My revisions are “under review”.

I got an email:

It seems that I am now a non-smoking, 28 year old Latin female seeking someone with whom to share daily commuting expenses. ;)

I got heavily edited today as well to the point it looked like a hookup request from a lonely farmhand who is freshly out of the closet

Me too. Maybe it was "Austin" day. o_O

Apparently they object to "BFE." The only change they made to my profile was changing "looking for a good BFE" to "looking for a good experience."

They really did butcher your ad though. Fortunately, your reputation speaks for itself and ain't nobody going to confuse you with a rube. ;) I pity the poor guys just trying to establish their reputation.

Seems to me that the price listing section is now gone - it had been accessible on the app version of the site, but not now. (I still see instances where fees are listed in the escort's written description, but I'm sure those will be gone soon.)

Also, the app is now using the term "gay porn movies" where it used to say escorting, in the "available for" list. I only noticed that today - I think it's brand new.

Slowly but surely the site is transforming...so far the changes seem fairly minor (having the fee listings gone is an inconvenience but not the worst thing in the world), but how far will they go before it's unrecognizable?

Well, I guess that's a fantasy potential clients could look to. Only to find out that the farmhand isn't as innocent or retiring has he might otherwise have seemed! Be still my beating heart. Anyway (regaining composure).

I count myself lucky that I have been here for the last couple of years and have built a list of men I might want to see (not a to do list, just guys I have formed an opinion on), so as long as RM is still there, I won't need any detail in their profile, just some sort of contact detail. That is not to say that this is a desirable outcome, just that I can live without the detail for a while. If the RM site goes to grey, and there is only a picture of each advertiser in a suit with a link to his phone number, I hope that the gentlemen concerned will be patient it I need to ask a question or two to refresh my memory.

There are numerous threads on this forum that discuss escort ads that do and do not display a price in the ad. Some forum users stated that having a price listed, or not listed, made little difference whether they would contact the escort in the ad.

However, MANY, (including me), stated that when an ad omits a price, they merely skipped over the ad and then went to the next ad.

Realizing and accepting the fact that all escort ads on rentmen will eventually omit prices, I cannot help but wonder how many clients will keep their stance on not calling an escort with a price not listed in an ad.

It will be a learning experience for clients to accept the fact that there will be no more prices displayed.

A client will have to get over their inhibition over calling an escort for a price. Or, will they?

Offering an analogous scenario, an ad without a price it tantamount to going to a restaurant and having to call the waiter over to ask the price of items on the menu. It seems like such a waste of time and can be very awkward. With an escort, it would be even more awkward.

With future rentmen ads omitting prices, there will still be those of us who will not call an escort merely to ask a price. There will have to be something very compelling in the ad to motivate a call by those of us who do not respond to ads while a price is not shown.

If an escort is paying rentmen the same price to advertise but is getting less service (no prices posted), the escort probably should get a discount on the price of future ads. This is because the escort could very well be losing revenue from clients who will not call because the price is not included in the ad, by no choice of the escort.

The above is just my observation and opinion. I realize there are those who staunchly feel that an ad does not need to contain a price.

Reasonable people can and do disagree.

They made this change on the website a while back, when they started referring to the guys as "porn stars". There was some conversation about it here at the time and the problems it could cause, for example, in the case of an actual porn star who was under exclusive contract to one studio and his ad says he's available for porn movies!

One guy was quite upset since he didn't want anything to do with porn. I encouraged him to change it so he was just available for BFE.
