@tylerthebadwolf posted on Twitter that he got the same message, with the question “then what am I paying you for?“ – He has a really good point – it’s one thing if we can’t post rates, and need to be careful about language, but if we can’t post phone numbers or links, how are people supposed to contact us? The RM email system is unreliable and burdensome. It seems like it’s the only thing left, and it means clients suddenly have tons more work to do to figure out who they want to see, and we escorts will either see a significant drop in business, or a significant uptick in inquiry emails. I’ve never been one to believe that anyone has any authority to tell me what to do, and I was willing to proceed as I have been in light of this legislation, and I feel sad that there are knee-jerk reactions happening everywhere.

I don't have the strength to go through all 400 pages of this conversation to see where I fit into it, but It's nice to hear someone else mention the awfulness of the RM message system. Not to mention, @Eric Hassan, the fact that users literally have no idea who has access to view/intercept any of those communications. When I've worked for other companies with proprietary messaging systems like that, administrators (at basically any level) had access to view/edit/delete all messages on all sides.

So if you're relying on Rentmen to keep your secrets for you, I've got some troubling news.

Clients reading this and friends who might communicate that way: please be patient with providers who ask you to use a secure messaging system. You can't imagine what a struggle it is to be called names and shouted down for refusing to make plans or discuss details via Rentmen messages or SMS. It sucks so badly to be trying to do something eminently practical (and for everyone's good) and be told to "go fuck [my]self, princess" because "everyone else [they] deal with does it this way."

I don't have any beef with the "princess" part, but the rest of it makes my job harder, and puts your safety in jeopardy.

There are numerous threads on this forum that discuss escort ads that do and do not display a price in the ad. Some forum users stated that having a price listed, or not listed, made little difference whether they would contact the escort in the ad.

However, MANY, (including me), stated that when an ad omits a price, they merely skipped over the ad and then went to the next ad.

Realizing and accepting the fact that all escort ads on rentmen will eventually omit prices, I cannot help but wonder how many clients will keep their stance on not calling an escort with a price not listed in an ad.

It will be a learning experience for clients to accept the fact that there will be no more prices displayed.

A client will have to get over their inhibition over calling an escort for a price. Or, will they?

Offering an analogous scenario, an ad without a price it tantamount to going to a restaurant and having to call the waiter over to ask the price of items on the menu. It seems like such a waste of time and can be very awkward. With an escort, it would be even more awkward.

With future rentmen ads omitting prices, there will still be those of us who will not call an escort merely to ask a price. There will have to be something very compelling in the ad to motivate a call by those of us who do not respond to ads while a price is not shown.

If an escort is paying rentmen the same price to advertise but is getting less service (no prices posted), the escort probably should get a discount on the price of future ads. This is because the escort could very well be losing revenue from clients who will not call because the price is not included in the ad, by no choice of the escort.

The above is just my observation and opinion. I realize there are those who staunchly feel that an ad does not need to contain a price.

Reasonable people can and do disagree.

I’ll disagree (mildly)....the whole no rate or “ask me” situation has never bothered me, maybe I’ve been doing this too long. Clients who are shy to “ask” will get over it....or go without and hopefully not get to a frustrated level of horny where bad decisions get made.

Twice this week I’ve called a waiter over to ask the “MP” of a fish entree I was considering....so IDK all normal and easy for me at least.

Exactly! We could debate and argue about it endlessly when there was an option. Now it's pretty much a moot point. Guys are going to have to put on their big-boy pants or stay at home and play with their little boys.

In the meanwhile, maybe we all should intensify the use of our resources, as long as they are still up. Rentmen, Hardcordthugz, Backpage and A4A still have their ads (I know, totally downgraded, but still there), Rentboy.pro is still showing prices, and Mintboys has had a policy since the very beginning that may save it in the worst case scenario. Enjoy.

I was traveling abroad and RM locked my Home location when trying to update it upon my return, displaying an error message that I needed to create a separate profile for this region or use travel locations. I thought that was aggressive considering I’ve changed my home location numerous times and I wasn’t creating a separate profile (that I would have to pay for) when I don’t split my time between two locations.

Upon inquiring about this and if they could reset my home location back to the states, RM communicated that I am not to promote “prostitution” in my profile. I had no prices listed in my ad and it was heavily edited. The only cautionary word that I can think of that was removed was “clients.”
