He then proceeds to send me options of cheap places around town with the prices (including a Motel 6). I wondered if he was expecting me to say I was going to pay for it?

 

Him: "So what do you think about the Motel 6?"

I pause because by now I'm thinking there are red flags all over the place. I paused for maybe half a minute.

At this point I was feeling very awkward and cornered and said I had something work related to tend to (which was partially true.)

 

I am horny as hell, and this guy physically really turns my crank, but I was not getting good vibes throughout this exchange. Am I right that it's not normal for an escort to be getting the client to help him figure out which "cheap" (i.e. sleazy) motel he should stay in?

I’ve found hotel rooms on the fly for traveling guys before and things have subsequently gone well so I wouldn’t really consider it a showstopper red flag. It sounds like he’s never been to your area and also perhaps an inexperienced traveler. Youngboldone I'm a bit confused. If this is your first time hiring and setting is important to you then you need to take control. If you hire a visiting escort you don't normally have any control over the type of hotel he is using. He arranges the hotel and he pays and you visit. Now if you want control you look for a hotel that has the type of setting you want and YOU pay for the room. It is really as simple as that.
