There have been other threads like this but here is my 2 cents....

If I am interested, I usually have a number in my head that I am not willing to exceed. If his rate ends up being at or below that number, we have a deal... if his rate comes in higher, I tell him honestly that his rate is more than I am comfortable spending at this point and I thank him. Note that I don't tell him what my number is as I am not asking him to lower his rate. This is not a negotiation ploy. In fact if he came back with a lower rate within my comfort zone, I would be concerned that he might feel I had been trying to chew him down and it would effect the quality of our time together.

It's because the prices vary for a variety of reasons. It can be something as simple as an extra $100 per hour after 10 PM or something much more complicated. Each advertiser is different, feel free to ask an advertiser for their rates.

Some advertisers are not comfortable posting rates in fear of law enforcement action.

I have always avoided guys and ads that have said "ask". However, getting the escort perspective from Kurtis Wolfe and the fact that @Kevin Slater concurs by giving his post a "like" has given me a different perspective on the matter. As such it certainly is always informative to get viewpoints from the other side of the equation. Plus every escort has their own business model just as every client has his own model regarding hiring and part of the reason for those models is to satisfy a certain comfort zone. More importantly I had never considered the law enforcement aspect of the equation. Great input.

I wonder that too, but I just skip Ask ads though. I'm guessing they vary their pricing for various reasons.

That is my perspective also. I skip the "ask" rate ads as well as the "ask" sexual orientation ads. And, while we're about it, can someone explain "bi-curious?"

+1

I've only hired two guys with ask me rates across the board. Usually I just bypass the ads otherwise. However, the two guys I did, I've had a mad on for some time and didn't care. :)

It usually means they're straight or straigtish :) but are interested in some way physically in having same-sex sex. Or that's my understand if your question wasn't rhetorical. :p

I do know a guy who could have been classified as bicurious when he was younger. Although as he has gotten older, he seems to be more attracted to men. I would say he is no longer curious. Lol!

My opinion is that people who identify as "bi-curious" seem to generally identify as straight but they're trying to express their openness to same-sex activity even though they haven't done it before or are very limited in their experiences. In this particular context, it may be more fantasy projection.

Thanks guys for your "bi-curious" clarifications. Sounds like baggage to me. I'll pass.

As a sub into muscle worship and mild domination many of the guys I contact are "straight" "bi" or "ask me"

I find most of them have ask me for their rates and since I only do out calls to my place it tends to frustrate me!!

I had one guy tell me his 1hour outcall rate was $600!!!! Unless you are Dwayne Johnson or Zac Efron, you will not get $600 from me for 1 hour!!!!!!!!!

I tend to stick in the 250 to 350 range and I tell them upfront in my initial contact.

I generally price based on location and the amount of hours that i'm asked to bring with me. Especially when a client is super inflexible and I have to cancel plans. Instead of giving a flat rate, that doesn't include accurate gas, mileage, time, etc. I just say it's at my discretion, or contact me for pricing; so that way people don't think i'm pulling numbers out of my ass.

Thanks @Jamie That makes sense.

Thanks for the response. I don't like excessive negotiation either. I wondered if some escorts use a variable rate as a bargaining tool.

BTW, "chew him down" sounds like "Jew him down", which is pretty offensive.

Thanks for the heads up... never realized there was a relationship between the two phrases... I would never use the phrase "Jew him down" as I agree it is offensive.

It's an eggcorn, which likely was intentionally created by antisemites to "hide" their bigotry.

I used to "ask". Often, it was a waste of my time, which is why I no longer "ask".

I am curious about the "ask" issue.

For example, escorts have to pay for their ads on rentmen and elsewhere. Based on answers in this thread (and answers in related threads) many potential clients bypass or ignore ads that say "ask" or similar wording.

In other words, an escort loses opportunities to gain clients merely because of the "ask" comment in the ad rather than stating an amount.

By comparison, if I alienated or discouraged a good portion of my potential customers, I would not be considered a good businessman.

Am I misinterpreting the effects of an ad that says"ask" or is it just my view of the issue?

A complete neglect of customer focus is rarely the right strategic decision to make in business. That being said, however, if the developers of the automobile would have just limited their innovation to what their customers wanted and asked for-- they were likely just being asked for a faster horse.

The short answer is some could care less and to others its a counter factual argument that you could never prove as to how much business they are actually losing by running off the huge amount of customers such a practice actually turns off. You can't prove the amount of non-hires from it to them... and by golly.. they have the right to run their business into the toilet if they damn well please!

The primary reasons "ask" wasted my time are: (1) the companion's assessment is overly inflated for his skills/reputation AND much worse (2) back & forth messaging leads me to conclude that the pricing is not about the travel, the location, time/day of the week, but about specific intimate accommodations. o_O
