Hmmm! Add just a bit of passion you will become the ideal house husband!!! Plus was not the partner probably sending you a signal when he bought you that leather vest?!? Unless of course you plan on wearing it to the "Opera House and Davies Hall" that is! Now don't laugh! A couple of years ago there were two guys sitting behind me at Carnegie Hall for a performance by Opera Orchestra of New York. They were wearing black leather vests and leather chaps to boot. They were potentially ass-less but wore the chaps over jeans. Something tells me that dress code might be more prevalent in San Fran!

Oh, the leather was my idea. I said I was getting curious about wearing leather, so he bought me the vest. And I love it. It really does give me an attitude. Wearing it shirtless really flatters my tats.

Actually, my partner and I are total pigs. At Dore Alley, all I have to do is behave the way I do with him and I should be fine.

Is there any other way to watch them? LOL.

Good point!

Something just dawned on me. After a few dates, a guy I was seeing a long time ago told me that he and his friends would sit around and discuss which Golden Girl they each were.

In my 20s there was no doubt I was Blanche Elizabeth Devareaux (B.E.D.)

In my 30s I was Dorothy

In my 50s I was Rose

Now that I'm in my 80s I am Sofia in the flesh.

Regarding the Golden Girls, At this stage of the game I wanna be Sofia. I will do anything not to have to spend the rest of my life at Shady Pines! Unless I'm assured an edentulous blow job that is... ;)

If we're ever in the same room, I think Martha Stewart will self-destruct. I make my own bread, make every meal from scratch in my old, well-seasoned cast-iron pans, make my own cocktail bitters, shrubs, salad dressings, etc. I used to have an herb garden but don't have space for it anymore. You'll have to have me over and have me cook for you :)

You make your own shrubs? You really are God.

I make New York cheesecake that takes me 5 hours to get it just right and MacNcheese from a recipe that a friend used to actually get on Top Chef. We could exchange recipes cept that would be ghey. And I would absolutely have you over to cook. I have been wanting you to feed me.

Yeah, I currently have blueberry, strawberry, and rhubarb shrubs - and I have about 16 different kinds of bitters I made.

As for feeding you, do you mind it being crammed down your throat? Or do you prefer a more measured approach?

Ha! Both.

I have the same: blues, raspberries, rhubarb (although I never use it) and a ton of tomatoes, onions, pepper, cilantro, lettuce, broccoli etc. I roast veggies and make salsa out of them all summer. I can't find salsa that the kids and I like as much the rest of the year. I may have to start canning it.

LOL! This thread shows that this forum could come together, found a commune with @Eric Hassan and @klifhangar along with all the other house husbands creating a domestic utopia while the bros would create the perfect pub and beer selection. The hipsters would figure out the next great artistic fad to bring in the money to support the commune. Just think of all the community building. So many things to erect to build a happy and healthy neighborhood.

I'm in. A group of friends and I gave a commune some serious thought. I'm glad that we didn't do it but there is an appeal, for sure. I would have been the one to raise and grow the food, based on my experience with a small, organic farm.

But sorry, the hipsters can't live in our commune. I live in Portland and am beyond fucking tired of them. Unless they're hot then ok.

Hahahahaha. Sorry. I've been to Portland and it's been overrun with hipsters for a long time. I like hair on guys though and hipsters have been good for that fad.

I don't know why I bother. Every time I try these surveys I get hung up on the 1st or 2nd question. None of the "answers" has any meaningful relationship to who I am. I guess it is a good thing, in that I cannot be defined by any stupid categorization and am truly unique (at least in my own mind).

So I am left wondering - do any of you who make it through the questions feel as if the results square with your own view of yourself?

I'm always left feeling that if I would just lie and pick one of the available answers I could at least feel included. But having grown up in San Francisco and come out in the 70's, I've never felt excluded from the gay community. But these surveys always leave me feeling WTF?

You are right...surveys inherently categorize & put people in boxes. The value I see in surveys is not the box it places me in or whether the box fits. the dialogue that ensues when results are shared with others is what I value. Just look thru the posts...some reflection, some connection, lots of joking. Like any other assessment, it is not the tool but whatcha do with it that counts. Hmmm...;)

PS - welcome to the forum, LHG!

Yeah, the answers are bullshit. They're limited - as someone pointed out, they seem to be 4 things that involve crowds and/or being out doing something active, and one is "sit at home and knit." I found one question (of all of them) that had an answer I would actually choose; otherwise, I chose the one that sounded most like something I might do, but that was frequently a stretch. Though it came up with house husband, which is what my boyfriend calls me and what I most definitely am. Some of the time.

When taking these quizzes one needs to alter some of the choices. For example, the first question.... the following was the closest choice:

A meticulously prepared home-made dinner and a David Sedaris novel.

Change it to:

A simple healthy home-made meal and listening to a live recording of Maria Callas in her prime.

That describes me.

Regarding the results, the house husband was described as follows:

Fresh towels, a nice cup of coffee, bassanova playing in the background. You are a fan of creature comforts. When given the choice, you always opt for indoor activities - it's safe indoors. You live for the simple life.

I would change my results to:

While fresh towels are a nice touch you don't obsess about such things, you never touch coffee, classical music playing in the background. You enjoy walks and gardening outdoors plus are dedicated to exercising and a healthy lifestyle. When given the choice you opt for indoor activities and especially if it involves your wild side. It feels safe indoors for such activities. However, when you feel safe you would even consider getting wild out doors as well. You do enjoy the simple things in life.

You do enjoy the simple things in life.

Like nipple clamps, restraints, whips, yadda, yadda...;)

BIG LOL!

Yet at times the simple things work just as well. After all a simple clothespin can bring one beyond the edge and back... Well, you might need more than one... Well at least a dozen, but you get the idea! :) ;)

I'll be the farmer, back up cook and masseur

I'll be the wireless network engineer. And the guy who has a real job outside the commune to keep it afloat financially.
