I will be without a hand for 7-14 days.

I saved a neighbor from a grease fire,

I herd her yelling and smoke alarms, I kicked in her door and her whole stove was on fire, fire estingiusher was not working, I used 2 towels and a blanket to suffocate it.

Fire trucks and ambulances came for her, I don't have health insurance I refused ambulance, I don't have health insurance, so I drove myself to the ER.

I just left with a large dose of pain meds and a perscrition for pain killers.

I'm going to still work, but it will be one handed. I will have permate scaring and my right thumb lost a lot of the extra skin that helps for range of motion.

Saved someone else and her infant and my sisters apartment building but I lost my good health and clients I had lined up tonight and tomorrow. On top of that I lost my bank card and Huntington won't send me a new one to Florida, so I'm pawning my laptop to buy my pain meds, burn cream, anxiety pills and nasuea pills. They tried to keep me over night- i just wanted my bed!

Hoping I have a speedy recovery.

Prayers appreciated. I have a fallow up appointment in 2 days to find out what were gonna do about my thumb.

Thanks everyone I pawned the laptop for my meds. I'll work sometime this wee . I still have my forearms and elbows.

I'll have permate scars on my right hand more than my left, thank god its on my palms and thumb mostly-- the tops of my hands will be AOK I do believe the skin will heal smooth so touch won't be affected.

Thank u everyone. I'll be private messaging every one of you later this evening to thank you all for your kind words.

I love y'all :*

BK, Please keep the follow up visit in 2 days. Third degree burns are serious. You don't wanna take a chance that you develop an infection.

You're to be commended for your bravery.

Let me know when I can save you, BK.

In the meantime, as others have said - DO NOT skimp on getting the burns taken care of.

As an aside, the cream often used (silvadene - silver sulfadiazine) is worth its weight in whatever and not too expensive (go on goodrx.com since you don't have insurance). Really important for healing!

Jesus dude - I know that must hurt like a mofo! if it's any consolation, know that if you done it then it'd have been someone else and possibly others as well.

We'll have a dozen bacon-glazed Krispy Kremes and PORNHUB VIP membership card Fedex'ed to you to take your mind off your hand until the meds kick in.

[i echo what funguy said about GOODRX - it's very helpful]

Yes, listen to Funguy. Plus, that Silver Sulfadiazine cream is good stuff!

The silvadene is by Rx. You can also get colloidal silver gel or cream at vitamin or health store or even Whole Foods if there is one - no Rx needed.

I'm in. Where do I send my contribution?

You are to be commended for your bravery. I'm duly impressed. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I'm not quite sure I understand the logic in not having health insurance, though. My understanding is that this year the fine equals whatever it would have cost you to get bronze coverage for your income level. If you're low-income or fairly low income, you get free coverage. I think you have until the end of this month to sign up...

Although they result in permanent scarring, the bright side of 3rd degree burns is that they hurt a lot less than 2nd degree burns because the nerve endings are literally fried themselves.
