Moulin Rouge was visually so lush. I'll throw one out and this will show what a great thinker I am. And this is for anyone who's had a dog, especially a Jack Russell terrier......MY DOG SKIP. A beautiful movie about a boy and his dog.

I am not one to cry at movies.I am glad saw My Dog Skip at home.I was a blubbering mess.

I was embarrassed to write that but tears flowed at the end. I had a wonderful JR.....only thing I could think about was him.

Out of a long list of favorites that skews heavily Japanese (including anime), here are the Hollywood live action movies I haven't already mentioned. (Yes, there are more animated ones. For awhile, that was practically all I saw in the theater.)

Unforgiven

The Philadelphia Story

All About Eve

Do the Right Thing

Inglorious Basterds

2001: A Space Odyssey

A Clockwork Orange

Poltergeist

The Dark Knight

The Prestige

Maurice

To Kill a Mockingbird

Compulsion

V for Vendetta

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane

The Thin Man

The Hiding Place

Amadeus

Dangerous Liaisons

Twelve Angry Men

The Killing Fields

Network

The Maltese Falcon

Rebecca

Sense and Sensibility

The Talented Mr. Ripley

ETA: If the plot weren't so convoluted, The Big Sleep would be on the list. It's a feature, not a bug; I understand the book is equally convoluted and that Chandler himself found it confusing(!)

Review by David Duke, a Hollywood connoisseur...

This may be a repeat (I'm too lazy to check!) Ordinary People, A River Runs Through It, On Golden Pond, The Trouble with Angels, Latter Days...nothing fancy or too noir'!

These are my two most recent faves (if not already included) and hardly the tip of the iceberg of my favorite movies overall.

The Conformist (Il Conformista) - Bertolucci

Hiroshima Mon Amour - Resnais

My favorite movie of all time is Ken Russel's "Women in Love, " w/ Oliver Reed, Alan Bates, Glenda Jackson, Jennie Linden, 1969. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it.

Thanks! Reminded me that one of my favorites is Russell's 'The Devils,' based on Aldous Huxley's The Devils of Loudon.

"Pay it Forward" The ending causes most people to cry tears of joy.

Daddy supports the idea and tries to implement it each day.

Seeing as this is the second thread I've posted in as many minutes, clearly I'm in need of mental stimulation. I blame not being able to attend today's festivities.

Anyway, I'm asking for your favorite movie(s). Mine is Akira Kurosawa's 1954 movie Seven Samurai, of which The Magnificent Seven is an adaptation. It has been since I saw it as a teenager.

The Ref with Dennis Leary and Kevin Spacey is an every year classic around the holidays that reminds me of my own crazy, dysfunctional, yet loving family and I still laugh so hard I practically pee my pants.
