Lucky today passed on a fresh update from Jackhammer, who came through his bone marrow transplant quite successfully. The 24 days in the hospital were not pleasant, as even after the transplant he developed a nasty and painful infection. Once that alleviated, he was transferred to a nearby care hotel. He had barely settled in when they did an EKG and found an abnormality, so he was right back in the hospital. Luckily, the EKG they did there did not show the abnormality, and after much cardio-conferring, he was sent back to the hotel, where he is resting comfortably. There is talk that he will be sent home on Monday should all continue to progress. Even there he will have to have a live-in care provider for several weeks, but may be able to drive small distances.

Jackhammer is grateful for all the love and support from folks at this website, as well as from other areas of his life. His brother was the bone marrow donor, and, of course, Jackhammer owes his life to him. One thing he mentioned was how aware he is that things could just as easily have gone the other way, and he is grateful for each day, each friend, and all that comes his way.

Thanks so much for the update Charlie. I sounds like it has been a tough road. Please let him know that many here wish him the best, and a full recovery. Friday Funnies is not the same without him. From my home to his, I will be sending prayers and good wishes, and I will look forward to his return. Please let him know that my thoughts are with him.

You do not get a name like Jackhammer without being tough as nails and our man is living up to the name. Best wishes and positive thoughts are being sent in his direction.

I knew JH was sick, but had no idea that he had a major backslide. I was actually under the impression from the last time we met that he had made some significant improvements.

You may have missed an update he posted in early October in the thread "Friday Funnies" http://www.companyofmen.org/showthread.php?76067-Friday-Funnies&p=926295#post926295

I also would like to extend my well wishes to Jackhammer!

I've had an idea rattling around in my head for a while that I'd like to express. I think it would be quite helpful to forum members (both clients and escorts) to have a Forum subsection devoted to "Health Concerns." We talk quite regularly about HIV, PrEP, and other matters that directly affect us all—not to mention a myriad of other health-related topics ranging from current hot-button issues like Ebola to herpes and the flu.

It would be great to direct those conversations to a specific part of the board so Forum members have the greatest chance of seeing them and participating whether by reading or commenting. The reason why I missed the update for Jackhammer's medical issue is because it were posted under "Friday Funnies." I wouldn't expect to find something like that there.

Directing this information to a new subsection would be extremely helpful for any new members or people new to escorting who have health-related concerns. I think it would also help prevent a lot of redundancy in posting of topics, which seems to happen with regularity—particularly on HIV and PrEP.

Chris, I very much agree with you. Since so many clients that post/read the forum are the 60+ group, and health care providers, I think we could add some helpful info. And, like you said Chris, a place for us to keep up with members that may be ill. I currently am doing some research on a post I did a few days ago about a switch in diet. A change to a a more "full fat diet." I have some switched myself since last Tues. I am looking at an array of info, trying to pick out authentic research to share. I am sure there are others who would be happy to share their knowledge and time to help keep us informed and healthy in a wise way. And, updated on our friends.

Chris, you might want to address your suggestion to the administrators (by hitting the alert button on your post), however my feeling is that Daddy and Deej don't like to touch to the established order.

If Forum members simply click on the "What's New" tab at the top, all new posts come up from all categories. That way you don't miss anything.

  • 1 month later...

Taking things as thy come....

I wanted to say thank you for all the good wishes and cards. I was discharged last week to a rehab facility in order to learn to walk again. Energy and stamina prohibit me spending much time going into detail, but even though I am doing well from the transplant point of view, side effects have really stopped me in my tracks. I hope to be home and back to posting in about 2 more weeks.

Once again, thanks to all who wrote or sent cards. Sorry I wasn't able to respond sooner. 4 months in the hospital is enough for anyone.
