I hired an escort from Rentboy..... very masculine....we spoke at length on my likes...his likes....a very handsome man...not a young guy..but a late 30's man...body hair...deep voice....I enjoy being with very masculine men...a take charge..confident..real guy.....So he arrived at my apartment dressed in jeans...sneakers...very nice....As we made our way to my bedroom he began undressing....When I turned around I was shocked....he had shaved his body and painted his toe nails a dark color....Same body as the pics...but feminized by shaving/waxing....and painted nails....He said it was a joke for a friends party I was so turned off but not wanting to be rude I said maybe another time when he was back to the pics I saw....

He was very upset and said he was the same guy...just shaved....Really?...Don't you think should have been told ahead of time and given the choice? I asked him to leave and said I would call in the future...He was so irate and said don't bother....I did not pay him or offer any compensation.....

What would you guys have done????

I don't think you did anything wrong. If you didn't like that situation then you do have the right to decline to proceed. The shaved and painted thing wouldn't have bothered me but that's me. If it bothered you then you made the right call. Everyone is different. You are you and you have to make the call for what works for you. You didn't do anything wrong in my book.

I applaud you for standing up for yourself. This was a material change and he absolutely owed it to you to let you know in advance and give you the option to keep or cancel the appointment. So many of the posters on this board have stated that an escort is justified in cancelling the appointment on the spot if he arrives (or you arrive) and he is not attracted to you. I would really hope that this is not another double standard where it is ok for escorts to do but not for clients.

the shaving might have been OK with me, but the painted nails??!!!....however, if you wanted the masculine thing and the shaving really did lessen that appearance, then you did have a right to complain.....maybe I would've given him $30-40, though, for his trouble and time

I think you did right. It is difficult to submit to a guy with painted toe nails !!

+1 I would NOT have been able to get past the painted toe nails.. it'd be a deal breaker for me for sure.

He should've just worn socks. I do because my feet are just nasty. Painted toenails can be masculine though if it's say black. Pink or red would kill it for me.

He may have shown up wearing these socks:

Reminds me of something I just experienced in DC. Hired a guy advertising on Rentboy (not a tattoo in sight). He comes over and has tattoos all over his chest, arms, and back (a huge turnoff to me). I made a comment that he didn't have any tattoos in the photos on his ad. I went through with the appointment, but won't call him again.

+1, but I might have given him $20 for gas/cab/Metro

Little details that mean a lot to one person may seem irrelevant to another one; e.g., the nail polish wouldn't bother me, because I don't have a toenail fetish, but I do have a body hair fetish, and would have been disappointed by the shaved/waxed look. An experienced escort should be aware of this fact, and should have explained when you scheduled that he did not look exactly as he did in his ad (though, of course, if his feet were not exposed in the ad, you wouldn't have been aware of the polished nails anyway).

I'm with you but I'm a big fan of hairy chests. If the guy's ad said hairy, that's what I expect. If it didn't say but the pictures showed a mixture of sometimes hairy and sometimes not, I'd ask if he trimmed or shaved recently.

I think you handled the situation well. Here's why:

I hired an escort from Rentboy..... very masculine....we spoke at length on my likes...his likes....a very handsome man...not a young guy..but a late 30's man...body hair...

You established on the phone you like body hair and he established he has a hairy body.

...When I turned around I was shocked....he had shaved his body...I was so turned off but not wanting to be rude I said maybe another time when he was back to the pics I saw....

Except on that day, when he didn't have a hairy body.

He was very upset and said he was the same guy...just shaved....Really?...

Babysbottom Fancytoes needs to understand a few things. The guy you hired has a hairy body. The guy who showed up does not have a hairy body. You were paying for a hairy body and you didn't get it.

Don't you think should have been told ahead of time and given the choice?

Yes. In fact, last month I hired a bodybuilder who mentioned he did not shave or trim anywhere. He and I discussed my love of body hair and I mentioned it in an email. The morning of our appointment he confirmed and said (and I quote) "Aw, shit, I forgot that I shaved my back before my last trip, but everything else is natural. Do you want to reschedule for when the hair grows back?" I told him not to worry and he offered to leave if I didn't like the now-stubbly back. We had a great time. Everything else was unshaved/untrimmed. EVERYTHING :)

...I asked him to leave and said I would call in the future...

Perfectly reasonable response on your part.

...He was so irate and said don't bother...

Perfectly unreasonable response on his part. What did he have to be irate about? That he was called out on misrepresenting himself to you? That isn't your doing.

...I did not pay him or offer any compensation....

Good, you had no reason to. This isn't a case where Starbucks gave you extra foam when you asked for no foam. Oh, wait, they will make the drink over again or give you a coupon for a free one next time. Dude needs to go into a different business. One that doesn't involve pleasing someone else and meeting their expectations. Hmm...wonder if there is such a thing.

...What would you guys have done????

Exactly what you did!

One last point. I've seen ads (as we all have) where a guy mentions "chest is now hairy" or "I've grown a goatee" or whatever else might have changed since his pictures were taken. It would have been easy for this guy to give you a simple heads up. I wonder what other surprises awaited you?

In planning a hire, I do ask the guy how current his photos are. Some escorts get worked up about this, but I simply explain what I am looking for and my likes and dislikes. Like a few here, I do not enjoy body art on any guy I hire. It's me, I know, but it is also my money so I feel I can be picky. I know an escort agency that continually air-brushes out (or reduces) tats on their guys and I usually have to question the site moderator closely. I have adapted and can easily overlook one or two tats that are not whole sleeves on an arm or murals on the legs or back or chest.

If I haired a guy because of his hairy chest (arms, legs etc...) I would expect him to come to the appointment as such; I can accept some trimming, but definitely not completely shaven unless I was forewarned.

On nail polish - ugh the idea makes me ill - I am gay and I like MEN. I do not like girlie guys at all and if such shows up for an appointment, I hand them cab fare and a small tip and send them on their way. So if a hire showed up with finger nail polish or toe nail polish, it would be a deal breaker (and while on this, same for piercing... if anything up close it makes me somewhat ill).

Bottom line, client here did the right thing, and I have learned to take my time and have my "deal breaker" list close at hand before hiring. It does save headaches.

As to what others said above, I would never send a guy off without something for cab fare.

I am the voice of dissent here. If you were not going to go through with the appointment, he did suffer a loss of time, expense of travel and limitation of appointment in the hours before and after. As such, I think a partial payment was in order.

For me, I probably would have gone through with the appointment, stretched my sexual limitation a bit. I would have mentioned to him that I was a bit taken aback by the loss of hair and the gain of nailpolish, and that I would hope the hair would be back if we met again.

Ultimately, for me, the person i hire is not there because of one feature (chest hair, big dick, beard etc) but a package which includes the personality presented in the pictures and communication. I would have accentuated the positive and had a good time.

I completely agree. I like a traditional masculine look and painted toes would have turned me off big time. (This is different from something like a tattoo. I don't like tattoos but one on a guy I liked otherwise would not be a dealbreaker.)

Whether he did it as a joke or not is irrelevant; he should have taken off the nail polish before your appointment unless he had told you about it in advance. I'm sure he knew that many guys would have a strong reaction to it.

As for giving him cab fair, yes, that's fair.

+1.

I'm more like PK, in that I hire for a complete package, and not for one particular trait. I think the OP and I have somewhat similar tastes, but if a guy I hired showed up shaved and with toenail polish, like PK, I would have tried to expand my horizons. Of course, the OP has the right to be as picky as he wants with his hires. But this borders on viewing and treating our hires like products that we purchase which must meet exact standards, rather than the valuable human beings that they are. It's unclear if the likes/dislikes exchanged beforehand stressed to the escort the primacy the client placed on being hairy and not having toenail polish (I suspect that last part never came up). In all likelihood, the escort never thought that his masculinity was somehow compromised by these two things, which is why he didn't mention it, even if he knew the client valued masculinity. This was likely a communication mishap, and I do feel bad for the escort who lost business without so much as cab fare for something that wouldn't have affected his ability to perform. That being said, if it affected the client's ability to get into and enjoy the session, then I can see why he reacted the way he did. Seems like there were no winners here. :-(

I think the bottom line is that the OP communicated his likes and wants and that they weren't met. So in a way it is equivalent to a different person showing up for the appointment.

Then again, if it was me this wouldn't be a deal breaker. While nail polish would be somewhat distracting it wouldn't be a total turn off especially if the guy was masculine as it was in this case.

My understanding was that the OP judged on the body hair by the pictures he saw on Rentboy, and the escort's current 'mode' was never discussed over the phone.

If body hair was 'high-priority' it should have been mentioned during the lengthy phone conversation.

I don't understand the issue. The ad represented the escort in a particular way - he represented himself as having a hairy body - if he shaved it he had an obligation to make sure the client knew he differed from the pictures that he put in his ad. It's kind of like bait and switch. Same as if the escort had pictures of a dark haired, blue eyed guy with a hairy chest without visible tattoos and showed up with his hair bleached blond, shaved chest and one or more tattoos - false advertising.

I've had numerous escorts say "just wanted to let you know that my chest is trimmed/shaved since the photos were taken" - since I prefer hairy I have politely declined some of them.

It was just like when there was an agency in DC years ago - I had seen an escort a number of times - the guy was super hot, brown hair, green eyes, moderate chest hair, classically handsome, no piercings and no tattoos. He also had a good 8 1/2 inches and was versatile with me - great at both being a top, being a bottom and gave a superb blow job. He moved out of the area and then came back about a year later. I called to see who might be available and the owner of the agency was all excited and wanted to make sure I knew this escort was back in town, working for him and available. I set up an appointment and was totally surprised and put off when I arrived for the call. The escort had a mohawk, bleached blond, 5 or 6 piercings including both nipples, both ears and his nose and had a tramp stamp and both arms were full sleeves of tattoos - he looked like someone in a freak show. I immediately went back to the agency owner and told him he had to be kidding, that he should have known that I was not into freak shows and I left. Never used the agency again.
