At about 4:15 EDT today, a massive power outage hit New York City, Toronto, Ottawa, Detroit, Cleveland and other areas. Many of our friends here at the Message Center may be without power. So far, no links have been made to terrorism, but the conventional wisdom is that it was a power grid overload that is pretty much affecting a large area of the northeast.

Cell phones aren't working. I still have power at my location in New Jersey, but my cell phone is out of service.

Kennedy Airport and LaGuardia Airport are affected, as well as the subway systems and traffic lights in NYC.

It's a hot day, so here's hoping the problems get corrected quickly. Can't hurt to send some good thoughts toward those affected.

Isn't it like the people in the east to grab all the darkness for themselves.:-)

Just kidding. Hope it ends soon.

I'm sure most of our East Coast posters who have been affected by the outage will be on later tonight and tomorrow to tell us all about it. But in the meantime some good wishes to those involved and heck maybe a little prayer if you are so inclined might not hurt.

I wonder how all those people are going to entertain themselves without electricity? Hmmm.}(

I'll bet started because FFF/Doug69 plugged in all his vibrators at once. Can you imagine?

As far as those nasty heterosexuals are concerned, I bet 9 months from now, there will be a surge of births in the delivery rooms.

Hope the power is restored and stays on.

Well you know what a flair for the dramatic that Benjamin possesses. I guess he made the Grand Exit? :) Nothing like leaving in style, and as you know Benj has lots of style. :)

Thanks for the chuckle, Lucky! Now inquiring minds want to know, that if engaged with an escort at the time, and he gets trapped in an elevator, does the client owe him for that time? :)

Thanks Rick and Derek

This is only my second trip to NYC and what happens? BLACKOUT.

I was very Lucky to have been in the company of Rick Munroe and Derek when the lights went out. (We were in a Restaurant not bed, that came later):9 Great guys and they tried very HARD to make the best of our evening when the Blackout tore the Hell out of the plans they had made for me. They still got me thru a very long walking tour of parts of NYC and walked all the way back to my Hotel in the darkened streets. My hotel had a generator so the elevator worked and we had hot water. The room air worked but no lights. I had a blast servicing Rick's and Derek's nipples, cocks, amongst other things to the light from my Laptop computer. I probably had the best time of anyone during the Blackout.:+ Thanks Rick and Derek.

I got in Wednesday and Ryan spent that evening with me, then dinner with TotallyOZ, a visit to Stella's and then he took me to see "Faggot Feud" at one of the Bars. Had a great Time.

Today my 2 scheduled Escorts understandibly did not make it but I got to enjoy meeting Lucky for Dinner. I also made it to the Gaeity this afternoon. Didn't stay long, one of the Dancers almost immediately offered a private. Since the poor guy hadn't made any money due to the Blackout, I decided to help him out. }(

I am now waiting for an unexpected fill-in for my 9 pm Escort no show.

Making the best of a bad situation.

You are in good company. A close friend of mine is still on his way to NYC for a much-anticipated, first-ever visit to the City That Never Sleeps But Sometimes Blacks Out. He was supposed to have flown in on Thursday, the day the lights went out. Apparently, he is still sitting in an airport somewhere, on his way there.

Haven't heard any/many Tales of the Blackout just yet. At least we know someone used the dark to good advantage.

Now Ky, didn't you tell me that the lights went out just as Rick and Derek were simultaneously blowing their wads right into your face???:)

RE: Thanks Rick and Derek

Uh, oh! Our fearless (and witless) appointed President has weighed in on the blackout. He now claims he's been saying all along something needed to be done about the outdated electrical distribution system. (Funny, I don't remember any such thing!) Anyway, it sure sounds like another job for. . . .uh, Halliburton? You heard it here first, boys: you might want to think about buying some stock in the ultimate insider's contracting corporation! But dump it the minute it looks like Shrub's going down in next year's election polls, because if he's defeated and Halliburton ever gets seriously investigated, its stock will probably be worth even less than Enron's! }(

Hey Lucky that will probably be Rick's story. But,actually all the friction from my simultaneously taking care of their nipples and all their moans and Derek's constant yelling "Oh Fuck" as I worked his great nipples over would have been my story.}(

I love servicing a great set of nipples and with Derek and Rick I got the Dynamic Duo of nipples. I was in Nipple Heaven.

Remember, deregulation is good, even for vital services...

Going to stop there since this isn't the forum for it, but I'm with you. Except for actually buying their stock, no matter how much money I made with it I'd just feel too dirty...

Southern Hospitality in the Big Apple

After my Scheduled Escort understandably did not arrive, I saw in the Escort Travel section that SmallTownJohn had arrived in the Big Apple and still had no Hot water. Us southern guys have got to stick together, so I immediately contacted John and offered a Hot Shower at my Hotel, plus a few other Hot Things. ;-) Nothing like a little Southern hospitality. You should see that Monster between his legs as he walks out of a Shower Naked.

With all the cum that followed I must say us Southern Boys really STUCK together.:+

John reminded me that the first time we met was the night the Iraqi War started. Now our paths cross in NYC and there is a Blackout. We have decided we should contact the homeland Security office if it appears our paths may cross again.:)

I don't know if this is true, but I heard on the radio yesterday that all or most of the hotels forced their guests to leave after the blackout because they were concerned about how to evacuate the buildings if there was a fire. Supposedly all the ofice buildings did the same.

That doesn't make any sense to me. The emergency lights are battery-powered as are the smoke detectors. The buildings would be evacuated by walking down the stairs, no different than it would happen if there was power.

This report has to be a hoax.

The reason I heard why hotels would not let their guests in their rooms was because they could not access them with the electronic cards that open the doors. Also I suppose fire concerns and other security issues were problematic. A good time to be in Montreal, where the lights blazed on (we were fortunate in that Hydro Quebec, often much-maligned, invested $1Billion in breakers in 1998 after the ice storm to insulate the whole province of Quebec from any outside disruptions in electricity). The next day, Quebec did send extra electricity to New York and Ontario to help them recover though. :)

In addition to the electronic key issue, there is another even more techie reason to keep the guests out in a power outage: automatic electronic flushing toilets which would no longer work without power.

No kidding. Our own favorite trans-Gaiety 46th-&-Broadway Marriott.

The health codes do not permit rental of rooms without lights or running water. Even in NYC, where nature is defied on a daily basis, the water won't run uphill, beyond the height of the reservoir, and when the pump to the tank on the rooftop stops, no agua.

Thanks, KY. We were lucky to have had you as our client that day; you were such a good sport about the whole thing. What bizarre timing to choose the Big Blackout as the day for us to take you sightseeing...but it was actually fun, because we got to see how different parts of the city were reacting to it (especially the nearly-nude hunks who were sunbathing on the pier, and had no idea that there even was a blackout at all...poor dears :p ).

Well, next to us, you mean. We really enjoyed it, too. By the way, when we got back to Chelsea, it was like a block party down here -- there were swarms of half-naked, sweaty, horny guys -- everybody was cruising everybody else and we got quite a few offers, but we were still contented (okay, and a bit worn out!) from our day with you so we just went home & crawled into our no-A/C bed to sweat alone (together). }( Thanks, again.
