Is the fly in overnight a disappearing thing?

Ahhhh....overnights.....good times....importing a fine Hooville stud to my locale has always been a pleasure, but like others have posted, I have become more selective in who I invite, where they originate, and the length of the appointment. Logistics, reservations, details, etc are more cumbersome now than years ago. For reasons I can't pinpoint, it "seems" that flying guys to me was simpler years ago, now it's like work. Coordinating schedules, sometimes fluctuating schedules (both mine and the escort), airline reservations/expenses, other travel costs, hotels (if a neutral turf location), rising escort fees, vetting escort nuances and expectations, and honestly, a general decline in escort performance during overnight visits have contributed to my mildly waning interest in this aspect of the hobby. I think back 10 years ago, at what was involved in an overnight, hot hot hot action, many times, evening, night, morning, often 12-15 hours, and most were 500-800 from the finest men on the planet. In general, overnights now are play, dinner, maybe play again, maybe not, 6-8 hours sleep, perhaps no morning play, no shower together (ahhhh.... Mike Clark/Philly come back to us!), perhaps breakfast or not, peck on the lips, collect belongings and get the heck out......Overnights have definitely changed. I wonder if it's because back in the day, an overnight was a big deal, and basically an escort's focus, but now escorts are managing so many clients and client schedules, they simply cannot allow themselves to have intense overnights with any one client??? I dunno.....It is evolving. I still enjoy overnights, but know the fun days of the early 2000s will never repeat. I have to adjust too. Or change my hiring habits, and I am not ready to call it quits yet.

Yeah, I know the Kxxx rule and was trying to be funny. I didn't use KONT because I've been there and CANT pretty well describes Ontario CA... So I went with KONQ and then tried to sound it out.

 

Actually, I generalized my response. Not all US airports start with "K", just the larger airline served ones do. Others start with either a letter or a number, such as 2M8 or 27K, etc. I am sure this is scintillating to most of the readers.

I can't see doing a fly-in/overnight for many reasons.

 

1. It's too expensive for my budget. I could make five to 10 local hires for the same amount of $$$.

 

2. Way too many things could go wrong, with my schedule, with the escorts schedule, with the flight.

I wish to redirect the thread toward TOURING. It is my feeling that it is more the touring than the economy or high air fares.

 

I've often been told "If you're in _____________, let me know." And when I've gone to the city and let the client know, they've almost always scheduled an appointment. So travel definitely offers a convenience to the client as well as lower cost.

 

So it sounds like it's a bit of both. I think we all agree travel has become less fun and more hassle than it used to be. The reluctance to arrange a guy to travel in for an overnight has as much to do with the hassle and disappointing experience than with the cost. Meeting with a travelling escort would cut out a lot of the drama so could see where that would be appealing.

And one thing to keep in mind too -- which was said before -- it is financially more realistic (and a heck of a lot cheaper and less risky) for the CLIENT to travel to the escort. Many tim4es I travel on company business, and use the opportunity (of their paying travel/lodging costs) to look at the local guys available at the new venue, and believe me it is MUCH MUCH cheaper and less dramatic than flying a guy from that city to me.

I am still flying the men to me. Besides my regulars, I have two new men coming to Kansas City: Kristian (from LA) and Kurt (from Maximum); I have met Kristian before in LA and he is deserving of all the great reviews; Kurt has good reviews and I know the people at Maximum well (OK, I am a slut) and had a good discussion with them on Kurt.

The response to this post has been fantastic. thanks to everyone. So some are still doing it and that is good but most are doing it less or not at all. That confirms what I thought. Adriano is right. The majority of my nola clients these days fly in to a conference, meeting or convention and then see me here which is cheaper, easier and safer for them. One clarification to clear up some confusion on rates. When I advertise $1,000 overnights what I mean is for a 24 hour period. In other words if I depart at 10am and arrive at 1230pm then the client has me all afternoon, all night and all morning until we have to leave for the airport. At the end of one of these my goal is for me and especially the client to be WORN OUT meaning as many sessions as we can cram into the time as well as dinner, a show, etc.. It is all good! Now, there are clients who want you to get there at 10pm and leave at 7am but that is the Client's choice and those kind generally happen locally or when I have already treaveled to a city on tour. For that time frame my rate would be considerably less than the $1,000 rate- as much as half of that even. Maybe we escorts need to be clearer in our advertising. I just had a weekend with someone that I had wanted to see for a while . The escort had to leave their location at 8:00 am and fly to a major airport and then had a 2.5 hour layover. The flight was a little over 2 hours and I am 1 hour from the airport

plus we went to a small resort which was 2.5 hours from the airport . The escort was tired and showered and slept and was fairly tired the whole time . A lot of expense for almost nothing . I too probably won't hire again for a while as you never really know how it is going to turn out even with great reviews as in this case . I like plays- especially musicals ( I realize that may be an odd interest on this Forum:o)-- so for a weekend with someone I always check to see if they like theatre in case there is something good playing-- if there isn't a play, I've done comedy clubs or movies. Then I like to to other touristy things inthe city ( note-- I usually try to check with the escort ahead of time to make sure our interests are enough alike that he won't hate what I have planned. ). I've also done amusement parks/inner tubing. If anyone on the Forum here remembers Matthew Miller of sainted memory--I was living in a smaller town of Texas at the time. I flew him into sin city (Houston). I hadn't done as much work scouting out things to do as I usually did and was floundering for stuff to do. Matthew was very easy going-- we ended up seeing Moody Gardens in Galveston ( a tropical rainforest under a 'glass' pyramid) and he said he really enjoyed himself. So the bottom line-- if you are spending a weekend with someone--go someplace fun. Make it a mini vacation for you too. Or if you are lucky enough to live someplace that has tourist attractions-- go there. I've noticed that often in large cities, the inhabitants are very blasé about things that bring tourists into the city. So if you are lucky enough to live in a city with lots of things to do-- but you never do them. Start exploring where you live with an escort by your side.
