10 years and almost 12,000 posts in the Message Forum I once nicknamed "Hooville" have provided me with a great deal of entertainment, multitudes of learning experiences, and the opportunity to meet over 80 of the people who post on the message forums in person.

In my ten years here I feel that I have contributed thousands of posts that enhanced the entertainment value of the message center for everybody. I have kept conversations going, brought up interesting subjects, and generally provided entertaining posts. Even I don't maintain that I won them all.

One person I never got along with here was woodlawn. Yet he always said something that made perfect sense to me. He said that he posted here for his own entertainment, and that when he was no longer entertained, he would stop posting. And he did.

Well, I am no longer entertained. The reasons are mine alone, and I won't depart with potshots at anyone. For those who liked my posts and supported me during these ten years, I thank you, and wish you well.

But, this is for real, as the time has come to move on and I have no doubt of it.

You've been a rock in this place ever since I can remember. Will you at least sleep on it? Is there anything I/we can do to keep you here?

Of course I won't know if you don't post again. Wheedling PM to follow.

Lucky seems like a nice, intelligent, candid guy. I appreciate how he has helped welcome us newbies along the way. His contributions to this MC have obviously been monumental. His vast knowledge of the arts & culture is admirable--I've truly learned so much from his postings/threads in the past year. I've also looked forward to meeting him at a future Hooboy Reunion in Palm Springs (hopefully next year). Sure hope Lucky reconsiders and remains with us.

Sincerely,

Goodfella

Thank You Lucky, You'll be Greatly Missed

Lucky,

Your contributions to this message center have been enormous and much appreciated. For me, you've made Hooville a fun and interesting place to visit. You definitely "entertained" me and for that I say THANK YOU! Whenever I saw the user-name "Lucky" on a thread or a reply I would make sure to read it first. Whether it be on a light topic or a serious one you spoke your mind and made people think. I'm sorry to hear that you've decided to move on, eventually, we all will but not all will leave a lasting mark like you. I hope you'll continue to stop by and check up on your friends from Hooville. Good luck Lucky, thank you for all you've done to make Hooville a very special place. The message center was truly LUCKY to have had you around.

Best regards,

Coop

Hi Lucky, I was a bit surprised about your announcement but you must have your reasons for leaving us so soon after launching the new forum Comedy/Tragedy.You always had lots to say, even when there wasn't a lot going on, and you filled the void nicely. I don't know who if anyone can or will replace you.

I've never met you but have met some who have so I have a vague idea what you are like in the flesh but only vaguely since all the comments I received were highly flattering. So of course I had to discount them somewhat. I have only known you throught our interaction with this site and often I found myself agreeing with you or at least seeing your point. A few times we may have differed but then that's only to be expected.

Good luck with whatever the future holds for you. I know most on this site would wish you the same.

Lucky, you will be missed - you have provided a wealth of interesting topics. I understand that there comes a time when a change in one's daily routine is needed, but I sincerely wish that your need for a change could have come many years down the road.

When you come to San Francisco, please let me know and I look forward to seeing you at the next Palm Springs Hooville!

Lucky, we have never met in person, but I feel as if I know you based on your innumerable posts and some of your private messages to me. I wish you the best as you move on. Change, in many instances, is an enrichment for one! Good luck!

I understand why he has decided to leave, and I think it is a good thing for him. He had become unhealthily involved in what went on in Hooville, from which he was gaining much less than the time and energy he was investing. He left once before without an announcement, because he thought he might return eventually; this time I think he has really decided that he needs a different interest.

I think this is a wonderful site for newbies and for old-timers who ration their involvement, but ten years of posting almost daily might qualify as an addiction. It's time for the cure.

Charlie. If that is the case it does need to be said his efforts have in many instances changed my life. Helped give direction. Called me on overdrama and supported me from attack. I hope he knows how many his addiction has touched and that hooville is certainly luckless today.

I loathe to see this place without him. Its like losing a family member.

oh ok

I see your point. I didn't know what's exactly going on but since you are a very close friend to him so I trust your opinion. It's sad but I would like to say goodbye to Lucky then. However, I hope he can host the Hooville party still so I can finally get to meet him. Thank you Charlie for your clarification. My understanding was he left for some other reasons but I guess I misunderstood something. Kisses and hugs~~ :) I will be gone as well for a while. I came back because I thought there was an emergency.. It was a big deal that Lucky decided to leave for me. Kisses and hugs all~~~ :)

Good bye Lucky. This people who post here are like a family and so you will be welcomed back by one and all should that happen. Some will be delighted to see you go, others will delight in the thought of your return. As for me, I am sure you are doing that which is best for you and that is always a good thing..

Hey handsome,

Just want to let you know that you have a special place in my heart. Your honesty, directness and respectful way of dealing with people deserves nothing but admiration from me. I wish you joy, love, health and endless fun wherever you go and with whomever you choose to share your life.

It is amazing how it is possible to touch people's lives with little details, and I think that you have put a few smiles on strangers faces without even knowing.

Thank you, and be well.

A warm, tight, affectionate hug.

Juan

Bye Lucky

Lucky,

I'm pretty new here and don't know you at all, but I've always enjoyed reading your posts. And, of course, I instantly fell in love with you when I saw that picture of your biceps ;). Whatever you do and wherever you go, I wish you the best of luck.

Be well,

Spanky

Thanks for the insight, Charlie, and I apologize for my selfish desire to see Lucky remain. I know he has a very rewarding life outside of this Message Center, and am glad he will be able to enjoy it all the more.

PS: If he does end up solving the mystery of the dog-loving hunk from 29 Palms, will you please let us know? :)

Lucky,

I particularly noticed your kindness to the new people who joined this site over the past 2 or 3 years. When the big, controversial personalities left, this message board became different -- more welcoming and less hazard free to post-- and you are a very large part of that change. You accomplished a lot both on the board and behind the scene. Thank you and enjoy what comes next.

Farewell.

Dear Lucky,

It was a pleasure to be in the presence of your company on this MC. Your persona was larger than life here and will be dearly missed. Please return from time to time to check-in on your friends and admirers here at Daddy's Forum. I wish you joy and fun as you ride off into the sunset for new adventures elsewhere. Farewell Friend.

Thank you, Lucky

Thank you for being you – for being honest, forthright, sensitive, caring, champion of the underdog, literate, many-faceted, and respectful of others. You also have opinions that you staunchly defend, but you’re willing to hear another side. I respect your intellect, your passion, and your compassion. I also am proud to call you friend.
