I knew if I just waited long enough.

 

So a handsome 40 something year old on A4A asked me if I wanted a sugar daddy and sent the following. 
 

"My role as your sugar daddy is to take care of you emotionally, physically, sexually and to make sure you're financially stable. I'm willing to give you a weekly allowance $800 to help you pay your bills off and take care of yourself."

I'm just thinking of all the Arby's roast beef's I could buy with that.

I get several of these a week on Grindr.  And my profile clearly shows I'm years older than the sugar daddy offeror.

I think I don't list my age on most apps. I'll tell people if they ask. But isn't 'sugar daddy' more a state of mind and finances than a set age?

Yes, but it's traditionally older supporting younger.    I think the question is "how much is enough" when all other personal expenses are covered.

On a more serious note, what's the angle of this scam?  Are they hoping you'll give them your bank's routing number and account number because you believe they'll send you money and then they steal from you?

I really don't know. The profile picture was of a shirtless guy with a hairy chest-very attractive. The profile was only a day only. And he supposedly was only about 20 miles from me. 
 

At first I thought he was asking if I wanted to be a sugar daddy. I asked. He then made clear he wanted to support me. I told him I wasn't interested and deleted the message.

Yes--or credit card info. It's a well-known scam. But I don't know anyone dumb enough to fall for it. 

At the very least, these online scam attempts engage in (relatively) harmless data-mining, but they're really annoying.

A4A is the only hookup site I frequent and it is rife with scammers and frauds. Best not to believe much of what people say on there.
