I usually don’t respond to solicitations on Grindr.  However, one cutie really caught my eye. I agreed to send a deposit cause he was a distance from me.  When I sent the deposit, I mistakenly added an extra 0 to the amount. To make a long story short, more than a week later, I am still out ?k and never met up. It appears that he has blocked me on Grindr. I hope he has a Happy Holiday, whichever one he celebrates. C’est la vie!

Glad it seems it's not too much of a hit for you. I'm always afraid I'm going to add extra 0s to my taxi tips in nyc - easy to do!

I can stomach it but just feel so stupid to burn through 2k. It sure taught me a lesson to stick with providers I know and triple check before I electronically transfer any money.

Mod's Note: Grindr threads usually end up in the Lounge as they tend not to become discussions of individual providers. We'll wait a while to see whether this one does, and merits staying in the Deli, or remains as more a hook-up discussion with $£€ involved and needs to be moved.

Sad that we still have some guys who actually will send . This should be the new name of the forum . We need more attention for this.  DO NOT SEND MONEY IN ADVANCE

Sending someone money from grindr is not the same as meeting a provider. There is no provider to be mentioned here because there was no provider involved.

You right he actually sent it to someone from grindr. Not a provider. Still I think there should be more awareness about this.

Sorry if I started this thread in the wrong spot.  The individual in question is definitely using Grindr to find clients.

The 1st rule of Company of Men should be "Never send a deposit."

comparing giving some random guy on grindr money compared to a small deposit to a provider who is well reviewed here and on RM is asinine.

This is a hard lesson and I am sorry it happened to you dude.

Stick to the professionals.  The amount of 'check out my OF messages' from scammers people get on grindr is a lot.

Calling fellow members "asinine" is insulting.

Yeah, this doesn't sound related to any provider.  IMHO, sounds like one of the OF bots that pollute Grindr now, scamming users to subscribe to their 4-post OF account.

And, @Postiche, remember, you can and should report the profile to Grindr.  If it's one of the spambots, another will just reappear but Grindr has some admin to do.  If it's an actual human being scamming, you've at least made his (or her) life more difficult.

I agree wholeheartedly with not sending deposits. I think I was burned once. But I'm trying to remember. Did  one time  Message Center favorite  Steve Draker ever require a deposit? He wouldn't let me make a flight reservation for him. I'm assuming because he didn't want me to know his real name.

So I can't remember if he waited for reimbursement until we actually met, or if he required reimbursement ahead of time as I didn't live in a major Texas city at the time. He would have had to fly to me from a major city he was already visiting like Dallas, San Antonio or Houston.

Assuming he did ask for one, he didn't abscond with it. On the other hand my two overnights with him were definitely nothing to write home about. Why did I hire him twice then? Well it was at least a year apart if not more. I convinced myself because of his stellar reviews that the reason the first time was less than spectacular was because of my inexperience. So after I had more experience I tried him again. What I should have realized was that almost all of his glowing reviews were from bottoms and almost none from tops.

I realize he hasn't advertised for a long time. But in case anyone on here is interested-socially he was great. I enjoyed going out to dinner and talking to him. When it came to more intimate things, he took forever to prepare-seems like over an hour. Still that can be understandable. But once we began he wanted it over as quickly as possible. No real snuggling afterward. And no even attempt at things the following morning.
