Hot ad. I always find it funny though showing people that age wearing Calvin tighty whiteys. I'm pretty sure that's a generation or 2 in the past.  It was popular in the 80s and a must in nearly every porn back then though.

They try to pretend the company is still owned and run by Calvin, and Bruce Weber is still involved, manhandling the models. I don't know a single guy who wears this brand of underwear. Not even a teenager. The quality of fabric and sewing is laughable. All made in China.

I buy for comfort more than looks. I like briefs as opposed to boxer shorts. Gives some support yet loose enough not to be aware of them.

In your opinion what brand of underwear has taken the place of Calvin Klein?

That's a good question. I'm not an underwear expert, but I'd be curious to know the competing numbers today. Sadly, all my friends in the garment industry are no longer alive. All I know, in the 1980's, Calvin Klein underwear was the bomb. The 100% cotton fabrics were heavenly. The construction was superb. The t-shirts were like wearing silk. The fabrics washed beautifully. Today, the fabric is so thin and flimsy, and the sewing is China-sweatshop horrible. If you want a laugh, read the reviews on Macys.com. I don't know how the stuff keeps selling.

Well, I kinda like both, but these days, it's all about comfort for me. In my youth, I wore everything, from boxers to briefs to g-strings. When I abandoned Calvin, I switched to Polo Ralph Lauren.

I started with these:

Being older, I really enjoy my junk staying loose. Eventually, I switched to these:

I like the feel of going commando, and the Polo Classic Fit provides that. The fabric is still decent quality, and the waistband is soft yet sturdy. It doesn't wrinkle and curl as you sit and stand.

I like wearing Polo t-shirts to bed, but their cotton sources have changed. Not as good as they once were.

I still wear Calvin Klein briefs and t shirts. You just have to know where to get the real stuff.  So many companies, today sell inferior quality goods at outlet malls under the same branding. Calvin Klein included. Most clothing is made in China now. Thats nearly unavoidable .

For me … Ralph Lauren Polo boxer briefs. In summer I like BearSkn boxer briefs because of the mesh panel helping to keep me cooler and dryer down there. When I gift my guys (my providers) they usually want Andrew Christian or Dolce & Gabbana. My 1st husband was all about Tommy Hilfiger briefs (in gray) and I hope he was buried in a pair of those. (RIP, Bobby.) I have one provider who wants nothing but jockstraps so I’m always looking for the new and unusual.

That's true. I don't remember the last time I purchased clothing.

Maybe Andrew Christian replaced Calvin in porn?

since this thread rapidly "pivoted" to discussion of underwear in general.

Who on earth buys Hanro? Why would anyone my age put $100 underwear anywhere near the buttocks?

I buy from a number of US and European-made mfrs.; but never the premier Italian brands or Andrew Christian. I prefer E-S, TOF and Mack Weldon briefs.

You may be right. Legrand Wolf wore the same pair of red Andrew Christian briefs in many of his early scenes. (As a matter of fact, yes, I have no life, lol.) And did you notice how, oftentimes, especially in gay porn, they’d roll down the underwear waistband so that you wouldn’t see the brand name? God forbid we were doing nasty, nasty things to one another in CK briefs!!

I don't know anything about Outlet stores or Outlet malls, but this comment got me thinking about fake news. I called Calvin Klein corporate to ask about "the real stuff."

While it is true that different styles and different fabrics appear at differing stores, and from a variety of fabric sources, this is largely based on what sold, what didn't, and what inventory is new. Even underwear comes in "seasons."

Asking about their Classic 100% Cotton Boxer (my former favorite):

The CK executive told me that this product in Calvin Klein retail stores is the same product sold at calvinklein.com, Bloomingdale's and Macy's.

Depending on how the underwear is photographed, it can look different in competing ads.

I did mention to her that Saks Fifth Avenue seems to be selling an exclusive CK product, with a different logo and polyester-mixed fabric:

She said the product is not exclusive to Saks, and can be found elsewhere.

I took a look at the reviews on the CK website for the Men's Classic Knit Boxer, and there are a fair number of complaints about the change in quality. At least the company responds to these complaints, asking to be in touch.

@azdr0710  I finally read through all the pages. I'm not familiar with a number of brands the poster mentions (possibly European?), but I totally agree with his criticism about the change in Calvin Klein underwear. Many gay men jumped ship after Calvin sold and left the company, and we discovered bad decisions.

In the 1980's, it was difficult to find a stylish gay man who wasn't wearing CK underwear, especially gay men who were watching Falcon Studio porn. Calvin was known to be a quality fanatic, so millions of gay men finally enjoyed giving up their jockstraps for a new kind of sexy underwear. The brand was so associated with high-quality gay porn, straight men refused to wear it. Even today, if you catch a "straight" guy wearing Calvin Klein underwear, chances are, he sucks cock. 🥰

What surprises me most about the thread, nobody mentioned Polo Ralph Lauren. Lauren may not have used sexually abusive photographers in gay-seductive ad campaigns, but the boxer designs were quite similar in quality to the original CK version. The Polo Ralph Lauren boxers pictured above are made in Sri Lanka. Sadly, the once former fabulous t-shirts are awful.

The questions remains, will Cooper Koch stir up business? Even gay business?

So where does one get "the real stuff?" At the rate my GLP1 is working, I might be able to ditch the compression shorts soon...

www.calvinklein.us

Too many people shop outlets believing they are getting the same clothing for half price.

They arent.

Outlets license the name and sell second quality goods with the brand stitched into it.

I buy mine at Bloomingdales (when they go on sale).
