Hepatitis A (Hep A) and Hepatitis B (Hep B) are viral infections that cause inflammation of the liver. Hep A is primarily spread through contaminated food and water, while Hep B is transmitted through contact with infected bodily fluids, such as blood and sexual contact.

Whatever happened to Hep C? I know they got a cure for it but is it still a concern?

To reiterate, the linked report explains people shed Hep A virus through their stool and then the virus spreads due to poor hygiene and poor sanitation.  So yes, person to person contact is one route of infection, along with food or water contaminated with feces.

The infection rate has tripled.  7 deaths are reported in LA.

Wash those hands!

Let’s not slut shame, when we should be anti-vax shaming….

"Too many unvaccinated ass-esters".

That’s strange. They’ve had 165 cases reported, so that’s a mortality rate of over 4%. Historically, Hep A is almost never fatal with a mortality range of somewhere between 0.1% in children and 2.1% in adults over 40.

Hep A/B combo vaxxes are readily available and I agree that every sexually active gay man should have one.

Three doses over 6 months.  Worth the time and effort.

I can't remember when I got them but it's been at least 10 years.  Do I need to get a booster?

Had a similar questions since my vaxxes were received a while ago.  Earlier in the year  Doc had a blood test done that demonstrated that the antibodies were still in me and no booster was needed.  This

I'm told that as long as you're producing antibodies (which can easily be tested in a routine panel), you're fine.

Most people only need one vaxx for life.

EDIT:  Shit, I didn't see the reply just above mine from @Njguy2.  Sorry about the repeat :)

Minor correction, as long as you’re producing enough antibodies.

The test for immunity is a titer test to see if you’re producing enough antibodies to prevent infection.

IgG levels test for immunity.

IgM levels test for active infection.

Despite what I said above, I believe the test results are given as either "positive" or "negative" to make the results less prone to interpretation error. So my semantic point is moot. Sorry, I can’t help it, I’m a science nerd.
