I think there is a difference between use and utilize. To me the former refers to a single application whereas the latter is to make a practice of using. 
You would say “use your head for once” but not “utilize your head, you idiot” in a specific admonition to someone. 
Utilize emphasizes the repeated use of something such as a skill or acquired knowledge you have.

I agree with #10 "Period"

I find "Period" is most often used by someone who has failed to make a convincing argument, yet ends the statement with "Period" as if to say his statement is a universal truth. 

That's my conclusion and I'm sticking with it.  Exclamation point!
