Reports are coming out today that MSNBC's new president Rebecca Kutler has dropped Joy Reid's "The Reid Out" from the weeknight 7 pm slot, and Alex Wagner will not be returning to the 9 pm hour to host her show. Reid's last episode could be as early as tomorrow.

Reid's show has dropped in the ratings since the Presidential election last November. The successful the trio of Symone Sanders-Townsend, Alicia Menendez and Michael Steele, who host the weekend morning show 'The Weekend' will take over the 7 p.m. weekday slot Tuesday through Friday, according to two people familiar with the matter. The group on Mondays will lead two hours, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Kutler helped create “The Weekend,” the show led by Sanders-Townsend, Melendez and Steele, which has run early Saturday and Sunday mornings. In its first year on air, the program has seen audience for its time slot improve noticeably in both overall viewership and among people between 25 and 54, the demographic most preferred by advertisers in news programs.

A month ago, MSNBC brought back Rachel Maddow to her former weekday 9 pm slot to cover the President's  'first 100 days', pushing Alex Wagner away from the anchor desk and into field reporting. Wagner is expected to be announced as an MSNBC 'contributor' while Jen Psaki is expected to take over at least one of the hours, according to one of these sources.

One would be hard-pressed to find someone more racist, more hateful, and more toxic than Reid. I don’t see how she or that sorry ass network that provided her a platform haven’t been sued out of existence for defamation.

Symone Sanders and Michael Steele are almost as bad... just 2 other black, repulsive, racist, suck ups. I wonder if they'll have blonde hair by airtime???
Maybe Joy Reid and Al Sharpton can now team up and host a new TV program entitled
"Racists R Us."

I was always 'meh' with 'The Reid Out' - take it or leave it (if I was too lazy to click the remote, I'd keep it on in the background).  Same with Chris Hayes - I'd sometimes leave it on in the background. As for Jen Psaki, not a fan of hers - wouldn't mind seeing her leave but they've invested too much money in hiring her and getting her show off the ground last year.

I've been watching 'The Weekend' since it has premiered a year ago, and haven't missed an episode (I DVR the two hours each Sat and Sun). I find the show very informative and great chemistry among the three hosts. I've been saying (to other friends who watch this) since November they need to be in prime time. Smart to move them to 7 pm.

Glad to see Wagner go. I could never make it to 9:20 without falling asleep. She's a complete bore. They need to get rid of Ari Melber, too, and his 'hip hop' show; that shtick is dated and he's past his likeability.

I guess you've never watched Sunny Hostin as cohost of 'The View' ?

Actually Bozo has seen The View - when The Price is Right is either pre-empted or showing a rerun.
And Asuncion (her REAL name) Hostin comes a close second to Joyless Reid in the race for the most vile, repulsive, racist TV host. Al Sharpton, another MSNBC bigot, would be third.

MSNBC’s new president continued to shake up the embattled network Monday — canceling shows hosted by Ayman Mohyeldin, Katie Phang and Jonathan Capehart, who will all remain at the network, with the men hosting shows in new time slots.

Phang, who broadcast her show from Miami, was told her program will end as the network sunsets its South Florida-based operations. She will stay on as a legal correspondent.

Ayman Mohyeldin is one of the sexiest guys on the network. He will be one of three cohosts anchoring 'The Weekend Evening' edition on Saturday and Sunday nights, according to reports.

Capehart supposedly has been tapped as one of the new trio of cohosts anchoring the morning edition of 'The Weekend' once Sanders-Townsend, Steele, and Menendez move to 7 pm. There's a rumor that Eugene Daniels might be the second of the three cohosts.

Ex-MSNBC host Joy Reid went on antisemitic ‘rant’ about COVID, former staffer claims

NYPOST.COM

In summer 2020, Reid tore into Orthodox Jews, saying they “only care about themselves” and are “in their own bubble,” according to the production assistant.

Now we find out that, in addition to all of her other charming traits, Joy Reid blamed religious Jews for spreading COVID. |
Nobody should be surprised that Reid went on an anti-Semitic rant. Nor should anyone be surprised that none of the 20 MSNBC staffers that heard her spew her hatred spoke up.

I just don’t get the salaries that these “stars” rake in.  Post-pay cut, Maddow still makes $25 million/year.  She’s back to 5 nights a week but will return to just Monday nights after April 30.  $25 million, 1 night a week … with her ratings?!  Anderson Cooper makes between $12-20 million … again, have you seen his ratings?!  Even if they bring prestige to the brand, even if they prop up the rest of lineup, there is no business model on earth in which such exorbitant salaries for such ratings-deficient “stars” makes any sense.

Granted, Fox’s ratings are a heckuva lot better than CNN & MSNBC, but nonetheless, those are staggering numbers!  Show me the business model and the cold, hard numbers that justify such exorbitant salaries.  Does Fox really generate that kind of revenue??

I can only presume it's the ad revenue that FOX generates.  I believe I can safely assume FOX is not a charity organization.

They command a large chunk of $$ from cable and satellite TV providers.

Side note:

Am I the only one that can't stand Larry frickin' O'Donnell?   I think he's a smarmy, 2-faced, bastard, and I say that with all due respect.

Give his slot to Symone Sanders-Townsend, please.

Why didn’t I Google it in the first place?  Fox News made $3.56 billion in 2024.  I couldn’t find the exact percentage, but apparently they make more in cable fees (every channel charges a fee to the cable company, which is then passed on to the consumer in the form of that whopper monthly cable bill) than in ad revenue.

Wow, so I guess they can pay such exorbitant salaries.  That said, I wouldn’t pay Sean Hannity 45 cents, forget $45 million.  The guy is annoying as f*ck and dumb as a post.  Watching him kiss his guests’ anuses is ultra-cringe.

Here's the business model you and others are searching for...

By any chance, are you familiar with the NFL, MLB and NBA ? Have you heard about 'star athletes' who sign contracts for million$ of dollars (often more than what these political commentators are making)  with various teams, play one - maybe two - games, get injured during the game and sit out the rest of the season...and still get paid their million$ ?  And their 'season' is about 5-6 months. Nice work if you can get it.

Who pays for this ? The poor families across the country who ended up paying thousands of dollars in tickets (not to mention hot dogs, drinks, and ice cream) for a Sunday football game, baseball game or basketball game.
