They looked like blemishes to me.

Yeah me too. Maybe they are tattoos but it's not clear from the pic. If they aren't tattoos, I wouldn't see any reason to consider this guy a "thug" from his pic/appearance alone.

Keep in mind, this is in Detroit.

That's not even close to the home of a billionaire.

...  And, again, in Detroit.

Correct. I worked not far from his place. It's the Boston-Edison Neighborhood. Back in Henry Ford's day, it was THE neighborhood to be. During the Motown heyday, it had a revival with Berry Gordy and others living there. But it's surrounded by dicey areas and the houses, which are beautiful and can sell for a million or more -- much more if they were elsewhere, are not in as much demand as previously. Many also sell for far less than a million.

I'm not "gay". And I don't understand the 2024 comment. Did someone recently decide that masculinity doesn't exist ? Just becasue your tastes run to feminine men...doesn't mean than all masculine men are "punks". I don't doubt that Devon Hoover's attraction was the rugged masculinity that Desmond Burks exhibits.

Men who are men.

He just hires male escorts lol. But he's not gay. Got it?

Though the photos of the alleged killer aren't clear, it looks to me like he has small teardrop tattoos on his face -- maybe one on his left side and three on his right.  I think that's a big part of why my reaction to his photo was "why would anyone be attracted to him?!"  I assume you all know that gang members get teardrop tattoos on their faces after they kill someone, so if my reading of his mug shot is correct it looks like he's telling the world that he had already killed numerous people.  If you find that sexy and "masculine" then I have nothing else to say.

I interpreted those teardrops the same way.  We all have different life experiences that help form our opinions.  That goes for the use of the word “Thug”.  In my house, the term “Thug” is definitely not attached to a race or culture, but it’s a “look” that’s projected.  This story is a tragic one regardless.  I just wish folks could stop themselves from being so quick to judge other folks opinions.  We each view things with different life experiences.  Accusing others of being racist, without even knowing their race/culture/life experiences, is a seriously harsh and hurtful leap in my opinion.

Honestly, if there is anything we have learned from the Message Board, it is that gay or bisexual or pansexual men have widely varying tastes.  Repeatedly, we have seen differences in taste become personal pissing matches.  It is a human impulse to regard one's own taste as "best," but if you fall into that trap you are misunderstanding the world we live in.

FWIW, I find the doctor very handsome in a classic 1950s way; as I grew up as a white guy in the 1950s, he would have been very sexy to me.

The mug shot of the apparent murderer struck me kinda the way it struck Pubic Assistance:  strong jaw, handsome brown eyes, very masculine aura.  Personally, I am not attracted to facial hair and strongly prefer more hair on the top (hence, I really like the clean-shaven doctor), but I do not see "thug" in that photo.
