confirmation of rate

If you go to a provider for multiple times, will you confirm the rate with them every time? Considering it may change?  Or it's the responsibility for the provider to tell you it has changed? Outside the US, the rates are listed on the profile, but we might not check them.

I confirm the rate each time whether they are regulars or not. Mainly because I often schedule more than just the standard hour. For a short session I really prefer one and a half hours so that entails a small negotiation anyway. And some I might see after a year or so has passed so it’s best to check if the rate is the same.

If I contact a regular, I usually ask, "as usual?"

If a regular raises their price and waits until after the session to tell.you, you need to drop him.

EDIT In my experience,  good regulars lock you in at the original price. I only had one regular who (twice) raised his price, and it eventually ended badly.

When it's a new guy, I always repeat the amount of time and amount when asking for the final agreement.  The oral contract is made if he agrees.

I don't think that this is a regulated profession, so what I do is that I pay the regular amount unless he brings up that there's a new rate. When there's a new rate, I may or may not agree to pay, and sometimes I agree to the higher rate but give less or no tip, depending. Inflation is out of control in USA, so we all have to be mindful of our expenses, especially us the working class.
