I agree with you.  Especially in your own home & the guest is making the drinks as noted in this story - no way.

however - the bigger point is once someone is inside your home & is intent on doing harm, it’s gonna happen & not going to end well.  Drugging seems to be the preferred method tho in these type robberies….gives them plenty of time to thoroughly rob & hack.

I much prefer hotels where it’s my room & I can control it to a degree with everything locked in the safe. In that case, I tell the provider I have friends on same floor and limited time because meeting them for drinks/dinner.  Second choice is providers hotel room or home.  I only invite people to my home I’ve known for a long time - never strangers.

There are a lot more of these type crimes that we never hear about - way more common than people think.  Super easy from the criminals pov - they’re being invited in.
Also - you should never have any financial apps on phone/tablet that open with facial recognition or fingerprint. Once you’re unconscious they can get into anything

FYI - the RM profile is still up & says AVAILABLE NOW.  unbelievable

One other safety tip: having a front desk and camera, if you live in a condo or rental building. Smile; you’re on camera. And the doorman has seen you!

Just the sound of it turns me on. Truth is, I’m begging to drink the Kool-Aid!

Thankfully, I’m smarter than that and you should be too.

That does sound odd, but it wouldn't be difficult for a guest to put something in a drink already made if the host is temporarily distracted or absent (going to the bathroom, getting something from another room, etc).

I just don’t have a drink when an escort is around, period. Not judging others, just saying what I do.

Funny, neither do i.

But there was one exception, with Mark Parker. He poured straight shots of Stoli into 2 glasses, toasted, we drank the same poison.

Nostrovia!

Why would a host let his guest make the drinks?

Host asks guest if he wants a drink and guest says sure but I can make it myself. Could say something like I used to be a bartender and everyone loved this drink. Would you care for one too?

Host says to escort / guest :

"I've heard that one before! The former bartender turned escort...You're going to make me a drink which will be drugged, knock me out for hours while you and your friend rob me blind. When I come to, you will be long gone, your Rentmen ad will be deleted, and your phone is disconnected. I have no recourse. All I'm left with is an empty condo and no cash or credit cards - even the family jewels are gone! Gone, I say! I'm left with just my Hillfigger underwear twisted around my ankles ! Like I've never seen an episode of 'CSI' in my lifetime. "

Host gracefully falls on his nearby fainting couch, covers his eyes and lets out a deep sigh.

Escort is befuddled, grabs his cell phone, and gets ready to leave.

Host says: "Where are you going ? You promised me that drink..."

Plus the host was incredibly attracted to and horned up for the guest so he was probably gonna agree to most anything. Especially when the gust said to him let's have a drink and then get into some hot fun.

Exactly. He didn't know he was going to be Cosby'd.

it feels like there is more to this story.
a guest from a hookup app doesn’t mix drinks for the host.  a provider from RM is far more likely to mix drinks for the client.  And we know the thief was/is an active provider on RM

I’d say this was a paid encounter, not Grindr.  As mentioned - I don’t think it makes a difference other than if the victim lied to police about circumstances.  if he lied about it - it will come back to bite him because now his entire version of events are suspect.

once the victim is caught in a lie then any future statements in court or otherwise will be ripped apart by thief’s public defender.  That’s how it works

the thief will say the victim was using drugs and he passed-out of his own accord, so he gets off on the drugging charges

he might get off on robbery & extortion charges as well because it will be very difficult for victim to press charges knowing everything he says will be now viewed in context of lying about how he met the thief.  it won’t be comfortable for victim at that point & many similar cases closed in this way.

fyi - the pic of the victims building in the news looks nice & full service, meaning cameras and doorman.  that didn’t stop the thief

Sure.  In that case, hover & be around while drinks are made. Make conversation.

I remember when that provider scammed me and I said I was calling the bank right then and there to get back my money, then became angry, realizing it was working, he offered me a bottle of water. Said, see, its not open. I said no thanks. I am there for release, no socialization.

The provider in the OP ?  How did he scam you ? How did you find out ? Tell us more...

Yes or "I'm a bartender, allow me to make us a couple of nice drinks"!  Would that sound very strange while you're all excited at meeting your new guest/playmate?  Can't trust anyone unfortunately!  Look at the price this poor bastard paid.  He very well could have been found dead!

@BuffaloKylewe think alike.  I did not read your comment until posting my comment below.  Smart guy you are. 😄

Yikes, he’s not at all what I imagined from his profile. Expectations and reality rarely meet. The second short reveals motive.

Hopefully he’ll find a boyfriend… in prison 😜 I don’t think he’s going to scam anyone there and live to tell.
