With everything gone up, are people expecting escort prices to go down

Yeah. In addition to the fall in demand, don't forget the likely jump in supply with the recession and fewer jobs.

Venezuelan women refugees already caused certain Columbian prices to go down. I wonder what will happen when they build the tent cities this winter.

The same was said in 2008... I'm sure some escorts will have to adapt but it's an industry that for the most is recession prove.

Are you implying Venezuelan men who recently arrived will join the market?

I feel 2008 was different in the way, that there were less escorts and more websites at the time. Now it’s just 2 main sites and a few for women or those that don’t really update their listings.

Not to mention Sesta/Fosta wasn’t around and Texas (where I was living at the time) didn’t have such a ridiculous law regarding sex work. The industry has gone to hell in a 🧺 and thrown the baby out with the bath water since then 🤦🏾‍♂️

People wonder why there’s war and violence going on so much lately: it’s because everybody wants to control what someone else does. Jesus needs to come down and tell everybody: STFU and stop trying to make everyone conform to what is considered the right way 😂

After the rentboy raid it was said less guys would risk going into the business and everything changed... Rentmen took over and SO many guys started escorting or at least giving it a try.

We know a recession is coming and we don't know how it will affect the market.

One more thing... 2008 was waaaay bigger and riskier than we thought at the moment, the economy of the world was at the edge of collapse.

Sounds like DeJa Vu 🫤

But at the end of the day it’s like: the history of the world and the country has always been in upheaval since the beginning. You get a few years of peace, and then it’s back to the bullshit. Then peace, and back to bullshit. Rinse and repeat.

But that’s why it’s good to have people who are willing to step outside the box and do something different. And the industry definitely needs that right now.

Venezuelan women already joined the market in NYC, and your mayor is complaining about it.

I'm willing to bet a lot of Grindr ads will pop up from the refugee camps. Same happened in Europe.

Example Demo:

You: How much?

Provider: $400

You: Thanks, You’re definitely worth it. However I’m only able to budget $300 at this time. If that’s not possible I can reach out next month when I have enough saved.

Provider: Oh ok, well if you’re willing to host/come to me, meet me between the hours of X and X, or come right now while I’m at this hotel, I can be willing to accommodate the $300

You: Great, thanks. Appreciate you working with me. I’ll be right over OR here’s my address, don’t worry about booking a hotel: 123 sexy street, Beverly Hills, 90210

Classy.

I agree with this dialog.

I particularly like the part about "saving up" for later.

I've never asked anyone to lower their rate. But I have told people they are out of my budget. If they offer to lower their fee I simply state that my budget has nothing to do with their value. I thank them for the offer and move on. But that's just me.

What I meant by that was: not just this country but just political/economic stuff in general.  I’m only 36 but: I know the early 2000s had its crisis, the 90s had its crisis, and the 80s, 70s and 60s too.

All which likely had people afraid and  uncertain for a period of time. That is the bullshit what I’m referring to. Whether that’s pandemic, epidemic, war, Y2K, Cuban missile crisis, stock market crash, housing market crash, oil embargo, civil rights unrest: it’s always some bullshit. This whole thing now with Russia, Iran and who’s going to get elected next: is all part of the 2020s saga that we’re living in, but isn’t particularly unique in the scheme of things.

I never know exactly why/how sex work; an intricate industry, is affected by these things but: somehow it manages to persevere and rebound thru it all.

Well thankyou, classy I am (I try to practice what I post when dealing with other businesses: like the ones that quote me $3,000 for a paint touch up 🤦🏾‍♂️

That’s the spirit!

You take the classy approach and you say 'thanks for your reply and have a great day/night'

Don't ever be the guy who pivots to the haggle or complaining/rate shaming.

Just move on.

I've learned it's best to include the statement they're out of my budget (without opening up any discussion about fee reduction). I've noticed if I just said thank you and moved on, some would be upset and keep pushing why I wasn't hiring them. I would then say they're out of my budget. Now I simply thank them for the info, mention they're outside my budget and wish them a good day/evening and then move on

This is exactly why I rather just have a site with all this info listed. The issue comes when people don’t click my “about me” section especially on RentMass.

I know pricing is a topic, but why have the extra rejection factor of having to ask and find out what the price is, instead of just being able to freely list it along with any extras or add ons

Because many providers do actually like to negotiate or vary their pricing (despite how many posture on here) depending on their dealflow, and because many won’t want to leave a public written trail particularly in problematic jurisdictions.
