I do not believe this is really that unusual a request. I miss tuxedos for dinner. OK. Granted I was no where NEAR around for when Tuxedos were considered a standard going out or common attire for cruise ship dinners...but there's no attire I enjoy more on cruises I go on than formal night. It's hard to look bad in a tuxedo .... unless it's a REALLY bad tuxedo

I love to go on cruises and always wear a tux on formal nights. I like the more formal cruise lines. I am planning to take an escort sometime so it's nice to know that some people are up for that !!! That was kind of the point of my initial post. Most people still associate cruises with what they saw on Titanic. Most cruise line dinners are casual dress prohibiting open toed shoes, denim, and shorts.

 

There are THEME nights and of course formal nights. The longer the cruise, the more possible formal nights. For example, a three day cruise will have one. A seven day might have two and twelve and above have three to four.

 

Even then not everybody dresses up. At some point people kick back and think ...

Very true generally about cost but see above Meanwhile, I had an impromptu formal event a few weeks after prom in New York and realized that I was not renting a tux for an event like this. Found a men's store with a great sale and got the entire set including shoes and shirt for $250. Granted it wasn't couture but it definitely did the trick and these things last about 10 years depending on your growth patterns.
