samhexum
Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward had a ‘f—-k hut’ where they’d get ‘intimate' “We left a trail of lust all over the place. Hotels and public parks and Hertz Rent-A-Cars,” Newman writes in his posthumous memoir. But maybe this is old news... Who cares about Joanne Woodward? I'm picturing Newman and Redford with a strategically used bottle of salad dressing... and there's no salad in sight. Guest
According to the book's Amazon blurb, JW was involved in writing the book, so I'd be surprised if it's disrespectful towards her: "The raw, candid, unvarnished memoir of an American icon. The greatest movie star of the past 75 years covers everything: his traumatic childhood, his career, his drinking, his thoughts on Marlon Brando, James Dean, Elizabeth Taylor, John Huston, his greatest roles, acting, his intimate life with Joanne Woodward, his innermost fears and passions and joys. With thoughts/comments throughout from Joanne Woodward, George Roy Hill, Tom Cruise, Elia Kazan and many others..."
Luv2play
I knew a man in NYC back in tbe 90's who was Paul Newman's college roommate and best man at his wedding to his first wife. This man became a minor actor and even less celebrated playwright for some off Broadway plays. But he was a great racounteur in his 70"s when I met him and had some great stories of Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and others in their circles in New York in the 50's and 60's before Newman went Hollywood. This man was also gay but never had a toss in the sack with Paul (that he would admit to to me). It was conceivable though as he had been a pretty good looking guy in his earlier days from the portraits of him that hung in his apartment in the West Village. I'll have to get the book. + WilliamM and misotaro
maninsoma
Paul's sex partners likely enjoyed that he was a horndog. What a handsome man he was, even as he aged.
Guest
From the way People magazine describes the book, the heavy sex was mainly with his wife Woodward: https://people.com/movies/paul-newman-said-wife-joanne-woodward-made-him-a-sexual-creature-exclusive/ "He describes coming home one night to their new home in Beverly Hills where she had fixed up a room off the master bedroom with a "thriftshop double bed" and a coat of fresh paint. "'I call it the F--- Hut,' she said proudly. It had been done with such affection and delight. Even if my kids came over, we'd go into the F--- Hut several nights a week and just be intimate and noisy and ribald.""

+ purplekow
I had a patient who was exceeding good looking and hung around the Hollywood scene in the fifties and 60s. He told some interesting stories about Marilyn Monroe as he was a good friend of hers near the end. He claimed to have been in her home the day she died and left at her request as she was expecting Bobby Kennedy. He returned to the house in the early morning hours and was meet by the maid who told him that she was dead. In any case, he had nothing good to say about Paul Newman. HE said that of all the Hollywood stars he had met and bedded, that Paul Newman was the most arrogant and least considerate. Still, I would have given an arrogant and inconsiderate young Newman a tumble had I had the opportunity. misotaro, samhexum, + WilliamM and 1 other 2 1
Luv2play
This man I met in New York who was Paul Newman's best man once escorted Marilyn Monroe to the Stage Actors Guild's annual gala dinner in NYC. She wasn't officially dating anyone at the time (1961) I think and needed a date. Unofficially she was seeing JFK who then passed her off to Bobby just before she died. At least that is what I surmised. misotaro

A well-placed comma would've made that quote even more interesting: I had a patient who was exceeding good looking and hung, around the Hollywood scene in the fifties and 60s.
