Would you meet a client (or even a hookup/escort) who doesn’t give their phone number?

I should learn not to bother engaging in these chats!

Well, listen: you implied something and I responded to it. No need to minimize and make the discussion seem insignificant. If you’re going to tell me what I can’t do, you have to be open to hear the alternative. That’s all I’m trying to say.

@Jarrod_Uncut, I think you more or less stated your opinion before Jamie. @Jamie21 was the one providing an alternative.

I was in agreement with what was being said, until it turned into this:

If I get a client who refuses to pay or is abusive I can call the police. You can’t. That’s a big difference.

I didn’t say anything about refusal to pay or police. That’s not what I was referring to when I was talking about screening. He took it to a whole other level that wasn’t called for.

I don’t mind varying input, but there’s no need to always turn the focus onto himself. On top of that, that’s misinformation and stigma.

I had to cancel on a provider because he didn't give me his phone number or the hotel he was staying at.  He simply told me a vague location.  I know he is legit because he has many reviews so I wasn't afraid I'd be in trouble, but on the day of my travel (I live two hours away), I decided to cancel the meeting.  I wasn't going to drive blind and not know where to drive to.  I simply message him back on RM and said, I won't make it.

Well couldn’t you have asked for the hotel information instead of canceling? That’s probably would have been a bit more courteous. However, I can understand the hesitation. It’s like one client the other week who wouldn’t send a deposit nor the address of the hotel. And this was a same day booking. I reported him, but he also has 2 other warnings from other escorts claiming he sent them on a wasted drive:

I have met multiple people via their app messaging and did not provide my phone number.

I have two teenagers in the house who don't need to know everything about my private life. So I can't risk a random text message coming in while my phone is laying on the coffee table or kitchen counter from someone trying to arrange a massage or hook up visit.

I do however understand the concern over anonymity so I do my best to be a true gentleman in my other communications and happy to meet in public first if my concern for privacy seems different from single gay men who have total control of their smart-phone .

I did ask, on RM for phone number and hotel stay.  His response was, I’ll reach out to you an hour before the meeting.  Umm, hello?? I’m driving two hours to you.  That meant I’ll be on the road for an hour risking wether he’ll respond back or not.  I just didn’t feel comfortable making that journey, so I cancelled.  Am I wrong?

In that case, no. I don’t think that would have been reasonable. Unless you didn’t mention you’d be driving 2 hours. But overall no.
