Santa Monica Boulevard

I drove SM Boulevard recently for old time sakes.  It sure has changed.  There were a few crossdressers near Western.   Finally I found a young skinny Mexican near Las Palmas.  Of course in the old days that was a mixed crowd of boys and girls.  Many were very very young.

I invited him into my warm car so he could get out of the cold for awhile.  It turns out he is from Guatamala and has only been here a short time.  He's trying to make ends meet.  I found a relatively quiet parking space near a large apartment that is under construction.  I'd already given him a hundred to welcome him to our country.

He knew what I wanted and he unzipped his pants.  He told me he wanted to cum.  As expected, he was uncut with a very dark colored penis with a bit of a helmet after his foreskin was pulled back.  It didn't take long fefore he came in my mouth.  The flavor and consistency was good.  I peeled off some more money and he was very happy.  He wanted to stay with me but I know how that can only cause problems so he reluctantly left.

It felt like old times.  You can still find a few strays but you have to work hard.

The summer of my sophomore year I drove out to LA with two College friends who had graduated and were moving back West. One of them was gay and he drove me along the Boulevard one night while showing me around town. I remember thinking these guys are my own age but some of them are so hot I wouldn't mind paying ( if I would have been able to afford it ..which I couldn't in those days ) 😉

Completely surprised to hear this.  Had absolutely no idea there were ANY working men on the streets anymore.  Good for you.

The absolute hay (HEY!) day of LA street hiring was on Selma Avenue in the 70s.  The center of that universe was the Gold Cup coffeeshop.  It was wonderful when John Water's mentioned the street, the action, the coffeeshop by name recently on...I think it was on Bill Maher, maybe elsewhere.  Good for him.

This will be nostalgic, or informative, or both.  Enjoy:

XXXXXXX---OOPS, I had no idea what that website was all about before I posted it, it's gone now.  SORRY!!!  10/25/22

And hey! I fondly recall this title and how it informed my early impressions of Los Angeles:

I love that movie.  I HAVE that movie.  The guy with the Partridge Family haircut really seems to have a smart aleck attitude, only lightly concealed  :-)

Considering that Rod introduced information about Selma Avenue and the Gold Cup, let us give credit to the man who had a small stake in the Gold Cup and the will power and lack of fear of the FBI and the postal authorities to mail naked photos of men to buyers who lived in various parts of the world.

Bob Mizer was a pioneer in his day by bringing gay pornography to a point of large volume.  He also had a magazine with gay pornography which caused him a lot of hassle with the police and various agencies.

We all owe at least a little gratitude to Bob Mizer through his perseverance that would not stop despite being jailed once and prosecuted twice.

Here is a little article about Bob Mizer that might be interesting if you are a history buff and are interested in how many facets of gay life began.

the teens congreting around the Gold Cup?  It was a feeding frenzy on Las Palmas.

I wanted to say something about that, but I didn't want to get in trouble again.  You never know with this forum.  THANK YOU!

When I was a college student at UCLA, the place where they congregated the most was at the eastern corner of Santa Monica and La Brea. That's because this was the border between the city of Los Angeles and the then-unincorporated West Hollywood. If LAPD drove by, they'd simply step closer to La Brea, and opposite when the Sheriff's Department drove by. Technology has replaced all of that, of course.

Since my last post I found  two more crossdressers off Western and Santa Monica more than willing to dress conventionally without make up.  It is hard work but once it happens it is well worth it.  It helps that I have a crash pad where they can change and feel comforable.  I love LA.

I drove Santa Monica Blvd. yesterday and there were absolutely zero prospects.  For some reason I keep thinking life will get back to normal.  I'll remain an optimist for now.

Go back to normal?  What is normal?

The period of time when streets were filled with hustlers has come and gone.  What is there now (nothing) is the new "normal" as far as hustlers go.

Selma Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard were involved in an era that will not return.

Time marches on!

It's sad to know that the old days have passed as I liked Santa Monica Blvd. when I lived in LA. Coming from the midwest, I had been in love/infatuated with a guy for years. One day I nearly had a crash driving SMB as there he was, standing on a corner looking available. I did pick him up and of course it wasn't my midwestern love, but so close! I had to shower him and put his shoes outside as they smelled so bad, but we had fun.

Again mentioning Bob Miser, attached is a link to many of the pictures of naked young guys that got the American government involved (U.S. Postoffice, FBI and others to arrest and harass Miser.  By today's standands, the photos are super mild.

Notice that David Hockney is mentioned in the link.  Incredibly, Hockney is still alive and some of his painting of nude men sell for more than one million dollars.  Many of Hockney (clothed) paintings are in numerous art museums around the U.S.

Photographer Rick Castro is featured in this LA Times article today about his Santa Monica Boulevard photography of male hustlers:

Rick Castro's fetish photography has gone mainstream. A new book, 'S/M Blvd,' collects photos from another fringe — Santa Monica Boulevard's long-gone male hustlers
