Scarcity runs the market, and, the market is heavily saturated with escorts at this time. Being that my professional life was in international banking, I know it to be a matter of fact that there "ain't no such thing" as "free money"; the "bill", if you will, has to be footed by someone in the end, or, as Louis XV put it, succinctly, "After me, the flood". Sadly, the day will come for the boys in the business that the proposition of "make me an offer" will be  the "going rate".

That was Louis XIV, the Sun King, who said that, in regards to his profligate spending of France's treasury. It came true but took another generation for the heads of the monarchy and  aristocracy to roll.

Not negotiating and saying 'no' because you can is still the greatest power an escort has.

I agree with you. It's like asking for more salary when changing jobs. It's one's right and companies can also say "No, NEXT!" I think that what bothers most of us are the escorts who ask for $400 or more when they don't have the looks or reviews to back up those rates while there is still a group of providers with good looks, experience, and reviews, who still charge between $250 and $300. For instance, I would never pay $500-$600 just because a provider states in his RM profile that he's Brazilian.

I don’t disagree with you @lonely_john.

I always think that, when escort demands seem excessive, very politely saying ‘No, thank you. But good luck to you” remains the greatest power a prospective client has.

I don't disagree.  But I would rather say 'no, thank you - that is above my self-imposed  limit at the moment'.  I think that adding 'good luck', while perhaps well-intentioned, can be construed as slightly sarcastic or possibly, rude.

Strongly disagree. Just because I turn down a provider doesn't mean I don't hope they find someone who's willing to pay their price. Hence the "good luck." I'd rather have more active providers than fewer. And I may change my mind later.

One time, after I turned down a guy asking for 350, he made a remark that he doesn't negotiate. I just replied that he's an independent businessman and it's his prerogative to set his prices. He respected me for saying that.

Thats because 10 years ago, OF, JFF didn’t exist. A lot of these guys depending on escorting to supplement their income. It use to be about, put up and shut up. I was scrolling through my Twitter feed recently and come to the realization, escorts pretty much want to have sex with good looking muscular guys and make money. Thats why you are now seeing subpar.

I can’t go into detail, but a escort I discussed recently robbed me. If you look through threads and reviews I have written you should see it.

We overconcentrate on a few OF guys who do extremely well. That also leads everyone and their brother to try and get rich on OF and RM escorts try to supplement with OF. Very few make much on OF. Even obsessive subscribers drop off quick. And now that the deal is to charge $20 to watch amateurish and repetitive short videos they're running into the same internet free re-posting that took the porn industry down.

I would imagine there are many more escorts/masseurs than OF guys with a reasonable following. But even if there are more OF biggies, when you count all the strippers, unadvertised escorts, etc I'm pretty sure the OF guys who make a living off it are a small % of guys in the trade. Also, there are some OK looking guys with sexiness on OF who are not sexy in person and vice-versa. And the fact there are so few OF guys in hot escort markets like LA, NY and DC and so very many in poor markets like Columbia makes the marginal profit point pretty clear. 99% of guys who can do 1 or 2 easy in-calls a day at say $300, make more than 99% of OF guys.

This is an astute observation.

I'd agree that very few OF guys make six-figure incomes and even fewer understand the tax implications.  As the Biden admin puts more money back into the agency, you're going to see a lot of OF creators get certified letters regarding unpaid debts.

OF worked well for some in the beginning, but the bloom is falling off that rose and increasing demands from credit card companies will change the way business is done in the future.

It'll be interesting to see how they adapt.

Personally my demand is up (fueled by Covid loneliness, shattered/dispersed social connections in Covid aftermath, and a hi tech wfh job that paid well, and stock prices that went up), but lack of quality providers makes me wanna not spend. You pretty see the same providers seasonally visiting USA from LATAM roaming around the country. Each city has 1-2 good providers, but they usually don't bother to respond to text messages.

Local str8/bi guys after a quick buck don't have a Craigslist-like mostly anonymous ad platform anymore.

Mintboys ads are mostly scam and women-only ads ..with an occasional authentic ad with a standout provider.

World's oldest profession..won't die out, but not sure what new form it will assume.

I agree, except my demand remains about the same.  Sometimes I go back to some of my usuals.  Sometimes I want to try someone new, and ask their rates.  If their rates are within reason to me, I may try them out.  It’s not that I can’t afford a $500/hour session or $2,500 overnight.  I just won’t pay those prices, especially knowing that there are other out there that are just as good—or even better—at much lower prices.  If all else fails, I simply resort to…

Check Wikipaedia: "Apres moi, le deluge"  is attributed to Louis XV. Or better yet, run MGM's 1938 flick Marie Antoinette and catch John Barrymore's delivery of the line in the role of Louis XV

And I suspect that holds true whether you intended 'cultivated' as a verb (past participle) or an adjective.

Efficient markets only work if clients actually use their head when making hiring decisions.

Unfortunately, most just use their little head.
