dutchal
I joined and it was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only did I end up with dozens and dozens of really good friends, with many of whom I'm still in touch, but all the different committees and activities and programs and such taught me invaluable practical lessons about how to get things done in a group that I have used throughout my career, lessons you'll get in no classroom. One of the guys who was a senior when I joined (and on whom I had a minor crush) later died of AIDS. One of my pledge brothers came out in his 30s I think it was. Other than that, don't know of any who were gay or bi out of about 150 who I knew while in school, but there must be more. + FrankR, pubic_assistance, Antonio1981 and 1 other 3
dutchal
Once had an interesting chat on one of the social media apps with a guy who had gone to a major Midwestern state university. He said his busiest times for getting hit up by other guys while he was in school were Friday and Saturday nights, chiefly fraternity guys who had gotten shut down by their dates and were looking either to get blown or to fuck. + Charlie, + FreshFluff, + WilliamM and 1 other

It all seems like yesterday yet when I add up the years it is actually nearly 60 years ago. Damn time flies. Over 35 years for me. Still on the Alumni mailing list…and still getting hit up quarterly for donations and dues. Lol Too be honest, I would be puzzled when the alumni would come around to hang out after graduating over 10 years ago…. + augustus

No one identified as gay in my chapter but it was pretty clear (thanks to Gaydar) who actually was. One guy was discovered because he ended up with nude layouts in Blueboy, Men and some other gay magazines. I ran into a few brothers at gay clubs after graduation. + Orin
Delta Sigma Phi, at Florida Institute of Technology, in the early 70s. It being a technical school, pledge tasks were biased towards rewarding imaginative ways of satisfying the challenge. For example, one of the brothers set two pledges the task of 'separating a pile of punch-card chad'. One pledge laboriously sorted them by the numbers printed on them, but then ran into trouble differentiating between the ones with a 6 from those with a 9. The other pledge immediately hatcheted the pile with his hand, and split the one big pile into two smaller ones. During the Greek Week competitions, there was a kite-flying event. My frat decided to make the biggest kite, and worry about flying it later. Materials included 4 tarps, a bunch of wooden quarter-round moldings, u-bolts, and duct tape. When it was completed, and brothers were holding it for launch, one of the crew realized that in a 5-mph breeze at a 10° angle, the force would far exceed the strength of the cord we were using. But that didn't matter, because the people holding the rear didn't hear the signal to release the thing, and it folded up in a glorious mess. + Charlie, Antonio1981, + FreshFluff and 1 other

Kauaipres
Full on Frat start in college. Involved in everything. Was chapter president. Fucked around with the president from our "rival" chapter. Had a lot of gay and straight sex during those four years. Was involved with the national organization for a while. pubic_assistance, Antonio1981, + Just Sayin and 1 other 3
KK913
Pledged and initiated into Kappa Sigma in the mid 80’s. Had no idea what Rush was and tagged along with some friends who also ended up joining. I was a naive teenager and extremely shy in high school. This experience was the best part of my college life. While I was glad to graduate and leave fraternity life for a couple of decades, when I think about it, it brings back the best memories. pubic_assistance, + Just Sayin, + augustus and 2 others 3 1

I'm a proud Lamda Chi. Great experience . Still friends with most of the guys. One of the brothers married his male partner and all the guys showed up for the wedding. Very supportive group and several are actively military. Not the type you expect to be gay-friendly, but our commitment to brotherhood and true friendship transcends all. Shoedog112
Found this older thread. Being in a fraternity during my college years was one of the best experiences of my life. It’s hard to believe I was initiated almost 41 years ago - time flies and I wish I would have stayed active locally/nationally as an alumni. Trying to encourage my nephew to rush this coming semester. Proud Kappa Sigma here. + azdr0710, + Just Sayin, + Pensant and 1 other 2

+ BenjaminNicholas
I keep in touch with about 90% of my SigEp brothers. We were a close house. Thankful that continued into adulthood. pubic_assistance, Shoedog112 and + FreshFluff 2
+ FreshFluff
I dated a frat guy from another school. The older guys hazed really hard; they woke up the pledges to go buy cigarettes, etc. In my innocence, I asked my boyfriend why he didn't just tell the older guys to screw themselves. He replied that hazing is part of every job, so we should all get used to it. I liked the close bonds between the guys, so I decided to join a sorority. Like all the Greek orgs at my school, it was new and non-residential. Also, there was a firm no hazing policy. I wish I had devoted more time to it. It's wild that there are SAE guys here. They were so...straight pubic_assistance and Shoedog112

+ azdr0710
back in the early 80s when blow-dried hair was a thing, Sig Ep (Sigma Phi Epsilon) was nicknamed Sigma Phi Hair Salon by all the other fraternities on my campus.....of course, each house had a rep for having certain types and, obviously, Sig Ep was known for well-coiffed, preppy, good-looking, WASPy guys....(no, I wasn't Sig Ep!) and we always reminded our rushees/pledges that it's a fraternity, not a frat, because would you call your country a c**t??!!.....
