So I found a thread I contributed to from 18 years ago. Think about that. 18 years. I've grown old here. And, of course, I am not the only one. Our days of going to The Gaiety in New York, Stella's, etc. etc. et cetera seem so far gone, but it sure is nice to have a record of the fun we had. Present times, pandemic aside, seem so tame. My younger self was so much more active and in such better shape than I am now. I can only look with envy.

And for all of the guys who are aging with me on the forums, thank you. I couldn't have stuck with it but for the encouragement and support from you. I won't name names, but management gets credit too.

Thank You! Who else has been here for a long time? You can define that as you wish! ?

I was a lurker from the early 2000s when I was still college and was too afraid to even think about hiring someone no matter how much I ogled the ads and read the reviews. Part of me regrets waiting and missing a few people who retired or rarely travel now that used to but the other part of me is glad I didn't jump in when I wasn't ready. I'm too lazy to look up when I first started posting though. ☺️

It's easy enough (but a little tedious) to find all your posts -- click on your username in the upper right of the screen, then on "Your content" at the top of the drop down box. You will get 10 pages of your most recent posts in reverse date order. At the bottom of the 10th page, there is a button for "older posts" which gets you the next 10 pages. Lather, rinse, repeat till you run out of content. When I finished, I realized it might be possible to used Advanced Search to get my posts in date order.

My oldest post here is dated June 26, 2004. I was a lurker for several years prior, possibly even from the '90s. I got here via Aaron Lawrence -- a solicitation on his web site for people to vote for him on hooboy's (for escort of the year???). That post was about my experiences at Campus and Stock the week before. I had been drooling over mouth-watering descriptions (by Mark Anthony, Tampa Yankee, et. al.) of those clubs for years, and finally got there while in Montreal for a wedding in 2003.

Thanks, @Lucky, for taking me down memory lane.

I haven't found my first post but it seems I joined in June of 2002. Almost 20 years ago. I think I posted reviews on Hooboy before that date.

The last decade of the 19th century was known as La Belle Epoque and I consider the last decade of the 20th century was similar, especially for gays.

The gay movement was gathering strength and barriers were being torn down. An effective treatment for HIV was discovered and changed the landscape for single gay men incredibly. International travel exploded and the Internet was expanding the universe in so many ways.

This forum and its predecessor under Hooboy's guidance put us all in touch to exchange ideas and experiences. While the central theme was our favorite common hobby, there were so many other tangential issues and interests which tied in with our lifestyles. There were enough differences in how we each pursued our lives that it made it interesting to hear of others' adventures and advice.

I recall some heated exchanges but the staff here are to be congratulated for keeping things civil.

Like Lucky I want to thank each and every one of you for being a part of our family here.

Damn. I finally found what may be my first thread. August, 2000. As usual, I was um, outspoken.

Lucky! I joined in 1998, but my first post was also August 2000. Don't try to look it up. It's pathetic. :) And I haven't changed a bit!

Well...except for all the parts wearing out!

Damn this thread makes me feel old and the truth is, I am. I first started posting here in the summer of 2002. Hired my first escort in the fall of that year and fortunately am able to continue doing so today. However, it has gotten to the point that I "almost" ashamed to tell the guy I'm hiring my real age. Maybe I should take a lesson from the escorts who shave years off their ages.

You shouldn't feel ashamed. I disclose my age with all my hires and get compliments about how well I am holding up. Of course this is before they receive payment for services rendered so that may have something to do with it.

When I was one of the younger guys I never dreamed I would one day be 80. I though I would always be young. Even now I'm convinced I was 35 when I went to bed last night and simply cannot understand how I woke up this morning at 80. My life has been a joy but damn it has gone too fast. Too many of the people I have loved are gone.

Ah ok. When I was 35 my grandparents were in their early 90s and I always told them I hoped to live at that age someday and be like them (they were relatively healthy and didn't need assistance at the time.) Always made them smile & chuckle when I told them that.
