Interesting. I've only ever seen gay guys consensually refer to each other as she, her, girl, etc., or using words like "bussy." But I've never noticed that kind of talk being directed at a guy specifically because he's a bottom.

I would rather call folks the way the want me to call them.

I hate the use of incorrect gender identification. There may be men who prefer she or they and I am fine with that. But in general, I find referring to gay men as she is off putting.

Get her. ?

Then please refer to me for this point forward as Your Majesty, ok?

Technically, I’d prefer “Your Royal Enlightened Majesty” but that’s a lot of typing...

Or, you can take the Delores Claiborne route and ask me “who died and made you the grand poobah of upper buttcrack”. Either way is fine...??

Get it right. It’s folx.

Ick. I have colleagues that use that term and it drives me insane.

As for gender name calling, I used to hear gay guys call each other "Mary" all the time - but I think that's out of fashion now.

Call me by your name and I’ll call you by mine...

New trend or not I think it comes down to (edited) 3 factors:

  • Level of confidence with the other person to call him/her "other names".
  • What the other person wants/allows/feels comfortable being called.
  • (Edit) The Context: Some of us find it hot being called certain names during sex.

Every person is different and behaves differently in their interactions with different people.

Part of me thinks it's about having so much power over a man that one could strip away his masculinity and feminize him. Those of you with an appreciation for the past might want to look further into the story of Sporus. He was a Roman boy who was castrated and taken as a wife by Emperor Nero. When Nero died, Sporus was passed around the the most powerful men in Rome all the while effectively being treated as a woman.

Thanks, Quncy_7, for the info and the wikipedia link. I was facing another day of reading the news and all the exhortations to vote (which is important - not making light of that at all) but this little tidbit added some spice to my Saturday. Boy, those Romans were not nice people. . .

And tops have been handsomely masculanized.

Within the Gay Community though.

Ask some straight folks (especially the men) if they think a Top gay guy is more of a man, and you'll be entertained by some of their responses.
