Grindr scams?

I had met twice two cute boys that were traveling and were looking for a Gen. Out of 4 times, two were great (one amazing Welsh pocket man and one Argentinean)

So today in midtown, this gorgeous boy sent me a abs pic and this text:

" ok man if you are interested.I need you to book me first so I can be sure you wont flake me or waste my time, don't worry for booking your reservation it's only for 1$ and my rate is just 45$ since im just a beginner and still learning, well i'm also looking for pleasure so if youre interested let me know and I'll send you where to book me."

Like I was born yesterday, such a shame, he was so hot ; (

PS: He keeps writing me and send me nudes. I dont have the heart to block him, yet ?

And of course those pictures are 100% him.

I've had two guys say they wanted to meet. But they had been beat up recently. And they sent pictures with awful bruising to the face. To insure I was on the up and up, they wanted me to register with some website that would verify my identity. I wasn't clear on how signing up on a website would make sure I wasn't going to go Chuck Norris on them. Needless to say I passed on the opportunity to meet these two guys.

That verification website will want your credit card to “verify” you ?

I get this one on occasion, they have their bots programmed extremely well...they carry the messaging on convincingly longer than most bots/scams. But ultimately....a scam.

JUST happened here, The "won't" name the gay dating app, but think we all have pretty good idea. Glad everyone here's getting more savvy and cautious.

PS: I thought using the letters "GEN" in Grindr profile now gets it flagged and removed. No??

Follow up on the “verification” scam. Maybe it’s a bot maybe it’s a person.....but in an even more sophisticated step...they sent me a location within a mile of my location! Asked me if I could verify on “GLCVP”. And I got the beaten/bruised photo this time, lol?

I deleted Grindr and my account a couple of months ago because it just got so bad. I've gotten the come watch my porn scene being filmed scam, the verification scam, the I want to be your sugar daddy scam, etc. I have a very young attractive acquaintance who keeps finding fake Grindr profiles using his instagram photos and he finally had to make it private! I don't have any of those issues with Scruff.

It used to be banned but I have been seeing it lately on Grindr in some variation or another. I use "Jen" as part of a longer display name and have had no problems. Yesterday I did try to put a "rose" emoji in my profile and was automatically told that roses are no longer acceptable in a profile. Sometimes, in the "About Me" section I will state that "me and my friends, US Grant and Ben Franklin, are looking to meet hot guys" -- and, at least one younger guy stated that "sorry, he didn't do group sex" - not sure if he was serious. I just got back from Florida where I had really good luck on Grindr though one guy immediately asked (with no prior interaction) whether I had Cashapp? Discussing payment options right off the bat is a no-no for me.

I was a little creeped out in Florida when I was sitting in my Airbnb apartment when a couple of times I saw a profile that stated the person was "1 foot away." I peeped out the window, just to make sure. I'm not sure how another Grindr person can be one foot away w/out being in the same room?

Why do people even bother? Grindr is just a bunch of frustrated queens looking only for young pretty people (which in most cases themselves aren’t), bots, scammers, and pic collectors. Even the picless profiles (supposedly of bi / str8 men) are all timewasters and fake. No real men in there. Scruff used to be ok but now even that is not the same. It seems like now if you want a good masculine top with no drama you are better off if you pay an escort ?

Try the ATM icon

I’ve seen people online 5 feet from me! Fun when you’re in public

I'll have to disagree. Not that any of the apps work great for me as I'm a middle-aged fat bear. But Grindr works just as well and better than Some of the others for me.

I hope you reported them to Grindr. They need to know about these. They aren’t real people

I used to report things. But I noticed that these people's profiles weren't deleted after I posted. So I've pretty much stopped reporting. I don't know if this non-action on reports started with the Chinese company takeover of Grindr or not. I had thought that under the old management when I had reported scammers, the profiles were deleted. But I might be misremembering.

The latest fad on Grindr seems to be getting tapped by someone who appears local, so you tap back and after about 15 minutes you get a message from the person apologizing for the delay, but he’s getting slammed with messages and suggests taking the conversation elsewhere and provides a number to text him. I throw the block on that immediately.

Now, if you really want to experience bots and cat-fishing, go on A4A. 99% of the messages are bogus. I had one guy message me whose profile said he was 6’6” tall, weighed 140lbs, and had a 39” waist. The pic was that of a good-looking, beefy guy.

Well, at least the scammers & bots are being nice to y'all. I recently received this message on Grindr:

"I want to incorporate your balls into my body

I want to have four balls it will make me more powerful

Are you okay with that I can cut you open and take them out"

Curious, was his screen name Hannibal L and did he want to have your balls with fava beans and a nice Chianti?

Yes. I was wondering about that. Rather than registering for the whatever safety site thing, I'm getting more requests for my number to text. But on the plus side, the bots are sending the ass pics I demand from them
