Do you like to workout wearing a jockstrap or thong?

A few years back, I forgot my workout clothes and my friend told me he would bring me some gym clothes to wear. He brought me some shorts, a t shirt, and a jock strap (first time wearing one ) to wear. Although he gave me these workout clothes specifically to be naughty, that jock provided the best support ever, and it felt great.

Here in the hot dry desert, I almost always go commando for all situations. It's quicker, cooler, and more comfortable. Loose regular walking shorts at the gym.

Is that comfortable for a heavy workout? I think I would miss the support for my boys if I went commando.

For those of us who play/played sports, a jock is a familiar and functional piece of clothing. We all wore them in soccer and baseball.

I'll wear one now occasionally, but good graduated compression tights get the job done better for me.

They also help prevent things like lactic acid buildup on really tough leg days.

I'm sorry I don't understand the question. What is this "working out?" I get white noise whenever I say the words. But if I did understand, wouldn't you be in danger of a thong riding up into your crack with movement?

Playing sports in high school and the first years of college it was always a jockstrap.

I'm not the workout type either - but when I was a kid I did use to swim (not competitively, of course, just for fun). When I reached puberty, somehow my parents decided I should start wearing a jock under my trunks. The funny thing is that I found that the box it came in - with a picture of a handsome male model wearing it (and nothing else) - was more, um, useful to me than the jock itself. :D (I'm pretty sure that was my first "porn" lol.)

Not being athletic, the only times I ever wore a jock were the few times I had a bathing suit without inside netting.

Being a shy kid, I remember the first day of high school gym class, the first time we changed for gym and showered after (elementary school, we wore our regular school clothes to gym). The teacher told us what clothes we'd need, including a jock, and the embarrassment of asking my mother to buy a jockstrap. I must've been 12 or so.

This was my experience too. I remember the day in 6th grade when the coach told us we were at the age where we would need to start wearing jocks for P.E. class. I was terrible at sports and also shy and nerdy, and the idea of getting a jock strap (let alone wearing one) was terrifying. I think I told my mom what the coach said, but for whatever reason I did not get one. I think maybe I told her not to bother, I'd wait. Then in middle school the subject never came up again.

Fast forward, as an adult I've bought tons of jocks, and like so many gay guys I love wearing them. But at the gym I prefer compression shorts.

very close to the same story for me, too.....all us high school freshmen sat in the bleachers first day and listened to the gym teacher rattle off the routine and what gym clothes we'd need.....included in the list was "jockstrap".....I'll bet not one dude in the entire class had ever owned or wore one and there was a bit of a silent embarrassment.......I made up a written list of what we needed, including the jock, and quietly handed it to Mom later and quickly ran off......a day or so later, she asked me if we really needed the jock and reported that she'd talked to a neighbor mother with a son in my same class and they both wondered the same thing - almost as if it was some strange curiosity.......never did get one

only about 10% or less of the class ever did wear a jock, I think, that year - mostly the dudes who wore boxers.....nobody checked....showers weren't required......I think most of us just wore regular briefs in those days and just quickly changed in the locker room routinely.....

and, NO, we didn't swim naked in the pool!!:p......that topic comes up here in the forum periodically and I still don't believe that was normal many years ago!!.....

As far as I can remember, we never got the "you need a jock" speech in PE. My vague recollection (this being between 42-46 years ago the memory is kind iffy) is that most of us didn't wear one. We did have to take showers in 7th grade ( I avoided it as much as possible being a fat non-athletic kid), so I would have seen them then. Showers for some reason weren't quite as mandatory in 8th and 9th (still at the same junior high as 7th grade). And my last year to take PE was in 10th grade in high school. I never remember taking a shower there. But even without taking showers, we still had to "suit up," in our gym uniforms, so I probably would have seen if a lot of us where wearing them. Possibly in schools with swimming pools, a lot more of the boys would wear them.

My uncle is one of the Greatest Generation. He turned 93 in August (You'd never know he was 93. You'd probably think he was in his 70's. He's as sharp as a tack. Only in the last year or so has he slowed down slightly.) He tells me they swam nekkid as a jaybird (my words) at the YMCA except on Family Night.

I came across this little gem on the internet when looking up the subject just now-

"In 1885, the Brooklyn YMCA opened America's first recreational indoor pool and required men to swim nude. Wool swimsuits were potential traps for disease and bacteria, and fibers clogged the pool'ssimple filtration system. ... After pools installed more advanced filtration systems, swimming nude became redundant.Apr 26, 2017

A Brief, Humiliating History Of Swimming In Gym Class - Medium"

And of course we've talked on here before how millennials and possibly, gen-xers, are even more body shy than we boomers were.

When I was in high school, nobody in gym class work a jock...except some of the jocks, the actual, sports-playing athletes. I guess they wore them for practice and games and just thought it was natural to wear it for gym class. I would sometimes try to time walking back into the locker room so I could catch one particularly cute athlete changing out of his gym clothes and jock.

So jocks always seems a bit mysterious to me. Many of the fittest, most buff guys wore them. That kind of made jocks more erotic. I always wanted to get one but never bothered. It's still fun when they crop up in gay porn though :p.

That "nobody checked" comment brought up another memory, the gym teacher said there would be "Jock checks". I don't remember ever going through one, though.

We didn't swim naked, as the pool was somewhat open. Gym classes were segregated, but it would have been pretty easy for anyone to come into the pool area. We did wear school-issued suits, nylon and kind of flimsy; I remember one guy dove into the pool from the deck and from the obvious hang as he was momentarily horizontal, he was obviously well hung. He confirmed Xaviera Hollander's statement in "The Happy Hooker" that you could tell the size of a guy's cock by the size of his nose.

We all wore jocks in high school and were required to take communal showers. Some of those asses were so hot. Our quarterback was a smooth blond and somewhat slender. He probably had the best ass I’ve ever seen. I don’t recall more than two fat kids. I had to think of going to the dentist to keep from getting hard. My high school had far hotter guys than my high-end liberal arts college without a doubt.

Maybe you've edited us out of your memories??On the other hand, I was probably one of the three or 4 heftiest in my class until puberty kicked in. So you may be remembering exactly what was what and who was who.

Communities vary pretty widely in this, or at least used to. In, say, a farming town, the sheer amount of physical labor involved keeps the childhood obesity down. The bigger kids tended to have muscle and weren't necessarily so much "fat" as "stocky." Now that we've successfully engineered a great deal of physical activity out of day-to-day life(Hell, even typing instead of writing burns fewer calroies) more kids are heavier. I was fat and was pretty much the only fat kid in my class.
