LaffingBear Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 A 100% full ship gay cruise is not for me. But I am seeking either small gay cruises, or gay groups on a cruise, or even gay-friendly singles groups that travel. Particularly interested in some of the river cruises in in Europe. I did a gay group on a mainstream cruise 20 years ago. Single, solo-travel in a group of about 50, 25% single/solo. It was a mixed experience. Being gay on the cruise ship never felt awkward or uncomfortable.... very welcomed and friendly treatment by staff, crew, and other passengers. Being solo was not an issue onboard. There was an organized cocktail hour every evening, and 20 years ago, dinners were still primarily main dining room events. Every night was fun; while people scattered in small groups after dinner, somehow everyone appeared at the dance club every night at midnight. Overall, I had a fantastic time onboard. However, there were daytime excursions where I found myself feeling alone and threw myself some brief pity-parties. I'm ready to try again, and looking at options. + WilliamM 1

I would NEVER do ANY gay group tour/vacation/cruise etc ALONE.... Would need to go with at least 1 friend, so you don't end up that "lonely girl sitting by yourself in the corner at the dance waiting to be picked by the handsome lothario". No Mary, that aint for me. Clintbr 1
+ ArVaGuy Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 Funny you should mention the buffets. One of the more humorous aspects of being on an Atlantis cruise is seeing the empty lines for the pizza and pasta stations at the buffet all week long.....until the last day. Then it’s a shit show free for all with every ripped muscle Mary on the boat clawing their way to the front of the lines and stuffing their faces with carbs. It happened on every single Atlantis cruise I went on without fail. I need some context here. I’m not grasping the significance of the “last day carb fest”.
+ nycman Posted September 12, 2019 Posted September 12, 2019 I need some context here. I’m not grasping the significance of the “last day carb fest”. So, you’ve been dieting for months in anticipation of knowing that you’d have to walk up that gang plank where thousands of ripped muscle boys would be judging every ounce of fat on your body for the next week non-stop. You haven’t so much as looked at a carb, much less tasted one. Finally, the last day of the cruise arrives. You've nailed every muscle boy you’re going to get to nail. You’ve danced the final night away in your tiny all white outfit (that you miraculously fit into). It no longer matters how perfect your waist line is. It’s over. For the first time in months, you can eat carbs worry free. It’s a joyous (although not particularly pretty) moment! Hope that helps explain the “last day carb fest” phenomenon. + WilliamM, + José Soplanucas and + ArVaGuy 3

You have enlightened me! The sacrifices these muscle boys must make to attract other muscle boys on a gay cruise is amazingly humorous.

I think the routines of attraction for BOTH gay and str8 exists even in Everyday life, not just on circuit cruises..... If they are actting like douches on a cruise you can bet they do so Day-2-day as well ? You just don't turn douchery on and off.

If they are actting like douches on a cruise you can bet they do so Day-2-day as well ? You just don't turn douchery on and off. I totally agree with you... However, behaviors do change, based on the environment.... most douchey people adjust their level of “asshole”, in order to maintain jobs, and not get their asses kicked on a regular basis when dealing with others. But in concentrated environments that give them a bit more leverage to “show their ass”, .... could be disasterous. I also agree that straights are no different... a few years back... Former tight-end (no pun intended), Rob Gronkoswki, had a party cruise, filled with all of these young, trashy, fans.... ultimately disgusting!!!!

rocky Posted September 13, 2019 Author Posted September 13, 2019 I have thoroughly been happy with the responses and thank you. Me, not sure it helps. Do I do a gay cruise or not, do I do a bear cruise or not. I have been on straight cruises and had some strange connections but at my age, I want to be me. But being a pudgy guy, that isn't so easy. Thanks

I applaud the guys that can do this. They have the discipline and willpower I don't have. As much as I envy people with muscles and six packs, I love carbs like noodles, pasta, and breads too much to give them up. I'd rather be happy and enjoy good food as opposed to miserable and starving but showing a perfect body. But then three quick questions about Atlantis cruises since I'm getting a vision of partying, drinking, and orgies: 1. How is the food? I take it there's more than a buffet like Norwegian cruises which have numerous restaurants and a ballroom dining room. 2. Is there any activity to do if not in the partying mood like relaxing in a spa, working out, reading books from the library with a cup of coffee and a muffin while on deck? 3. I assume the ship is quite clean despite the partying and excess going on?

+ nycman Posted September 13, 2019 Posted September 13, 2019 (edited) 1. How is the food? I take it there's more than a buffet like Norwegian cruises which have numerous restaurants and a ballroom dining room. The food is much more “boat specific” than it is “Atlantis specific”. Most were good. Some were very good. None were great. My two tips: 1) Read up about the specific boat on cruise review sites to get the best info. 2) Reserve dinner the first night in the “Specialty restaurant”. Tip the Maitre D $100 on the first night....and eat there all week long regardless of the supposed “rules”. They are miles better than the buffet and main dining room dinners. 2. Is there any activity to do if not in the partying mood like relaxing in a spa, working out, reading books from the library with a cup of coffee and a muffin while on deck? There’s tons to do. You don’t have to be a vapid muscle marry to have fun. Like most thing in life, if you go with the attitude that your there to have fun.... you’ll have fun. If you don’t....you won’t. 3. I assume the ship is quite clean despite the partying and excess going on? It is. Just avoid the public areas of the spa and the gym as much as possible. The crew pretty much gives up on trying to keep those areas “clean”. A lot of those guys inject enough winstrol in their ass and thighs to negate discipline and willpower. I believe your English is not properly expressing your intent. Perhaps meant to say “they inject enough winstrol....to COMPENSATE for their LACK of disciple and willpower”. I can’t possible see how they would want to “negate” their discipline and willpower. Hugs, Ms. J. Austin Grin Edited September 13, 2019 by nycman + m_writer 1
