I'm traveling this week and came across this ad.

He responded promptly with more info but when he told me his rate was $60/hour (and it could be negotiated if it was too much), it was very strange. Yeah, he's not an in-shape jock, but with normal rates in NYC starting at $250/$300 and up, it just seemed way too low. Yeah, there could be upsells later but has anyone ever come across a similar situation? Any red flags or things I should be concerned about?

I’ve occasionally stumbled across someone with a rate well below average... most recently a super cute Asian twink who demurely asked for $150 for 2 hours outcall time. He’s a sweetheart and I tip him well and occasionally buy him iTunes cards for his gameplay.

 

When I encounter someone like this I look the gift horse squarely in the mouth and try to ensure there’s not something weird going on.

One of my favorite regular guys charges 80 bucks, and he is smoking hot.

 

Do you find him attractive? I say go for him. In my experience, the market is full of 300 dollars disappointments and astonishing few bucks findings. If he is good, you got a new regular, at an affordable price. If he is not good, it was just 60 bucks.

Although I would be on the lookout for red flags, I think he could be for real. I think there are few guys out there that are genuinely into older men and have realized that it's probably easier for them to hook up with an ad on an escort site than it is to find a free hookup on Grindr.

 

It's tempting to believe that Grindr is a frustrating waste of time only because we're older and not "prime meat," but I think that the Grindr experience (especially in big cites) is universally frustrating. It doesn't matter how hot you are, Grindr is full of people who are all talk and no action, or will perpetually be looking for "someone hotter." Yes, it works sometimes, but, no matter who you are, it's 99% wasted time, and 1% jackpot.

You are correct.

 

I do use Grindr a lot looking for guys who are interested in a generous older guy like myself. I do get many guys this way but I hope I never gave the impression it's easy. Out of 20 guys, 3 or 4 might be interested and out of them, only 1 may follow through and show up. But, that one that shows up usually gets added to my little black book of regulars.

 

You have to be thick skinned but generally you get no response or a "no thanks".
