Arizona, my home state, is apparently being looked at by GOP scouts now.......with possible riots during a convention and lingering covid, I'll bet no city wants it, despite a possible $$$ local payday??

well … all that sounds perfect for Florida to me. If the federal government can't do renovations for the G7, maybe the GOP will for the convention

I'm not sure much of a GOP convention will take place anywhere. COVID is unlikely to be completely gone at the time the convention. Therefore there will be all the COVID-related concerns. Additionally, I doubt many(any?) cities or states will yet be allowing mass gatherings yet. Finally (and as others have already mentioned) I doubt many cities will come forward to host this event. Some republican governors have voiced interest in hosting the event but I doubt there are many mayors that would go along with that.

You can't have a "convention" if people don't convene. How else does one have a smoke-filled back room where agreements are worked out? Will there be riots outside, like Chicago in 1968? If no city wants the convention, will Trump hold a private get-together at Mar-a-Lago? Will those who wear masks caucus separately from those who don't? Will there be a betting line on how many conventioneers develop COVID within two weeks after the convention? Most importantly, will Melania give a speech?

This nominating convention will be very different from any other we have seen.

As posted by others in this thread "chasing" conventions might not be profitable considering the high rates. I'm sure local escorts will have a blast with all those Bible thumping closeted men hiring him in order to keep bragging about family values.

Yes, the less than 10 local escorts in Jacksonville will have a blast. Welcome to wasteland.

OUCH! I am guilty as charged :( "For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! (Apostle Paul's Letter to the Roman Church Verses 7:14-25).

I think with the Covid pandemic providers would stay away or risk getting sick. It’s a complete baby ? rodeo the way things are going out of control and so will the convention the way I see it.

Because of the restrictions that have been placed on various activities in Jacksonville it appears the Republican convention may be held outdoors. Of course, it probably will be in the mid-90s (with a humidity to make it feel like the 100s) and in hurricane season. Then again they can take care of that with a Sharpie. Most of Trump's crew will probably come by trailer anyway so there may be no need for hotels. Sounds like a gangbuster of a convention to end a gangbuster of a presidency.

@TruthBTold – I just cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would go. I understand (if that’s the right word) Trump’s pathological need to have a worship service for himself, the rest of the cult doesn’t need to show up. Many high ranking Republicans have said they’re not going. This will be one for the history books, no matter who wins in November.

Hmmm...what translation is that? Seems a smidgen redacted to me ?

According to the Gospel of John, when he is being questioned by Pilate, Jesus says, "I came onto the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth." Pilate's response, according to the King James Version, was "What is truth?" The rest of the quote is Francis Bacon's gloss in his essay, Of Truth, which is probably more often quoted than the rest of the original verse in the Bible (or the rest of Bacon's sententious essay).

I’ve never heard Bacon’s interpretation of Pilate. Pretty sure Pilate is more often quoted than Bacon...
