Epigonos and I start off for Paradise (my appellation, not his) tomorrow morning! With stops in St. Louis, Oklahoma, Albuquerque and Phoenix, we plan to arrive on Friday, February 1. Bring on the sunshine, goodbye "gray-uglies"!

I am on your wavelength. It was -23 degrees here yesterday. We got no mail because of the cold (which is perfectly understandable). All I remember is palm trees, mountains, swimming pools, and deviled eggs. And I smile.

Thanks for all the good wishes! We got in yesterday before noon after clear sailing across country. All that wintry stuff was behind us! Now it's time to start the planning - well, after a short respite to enjoy not having to drive all day. Thanks again for the help. Hugs to all!

I need to learn more about PS as a tourist destination.

 

I last visited 25 years ago for a conference out at the Westin Mission Hills. The 1-2 times I tried venturing into town were uninteresting. I took the tram up Mt Jacinto, and was so put off by the admonition to stay on the paved path, I took the next tram down. I flew back to SF a day earlier than planned.

 

That was then, this is now, and 25 yo older makes for different perspectives; Ready and interested in trying PS again. Anyone recommend a good travel guide? The only thing I know I want to do is Joshua Tree.
