I agree; This thread is getting boring.

How can you say a thread about correcting escort ad grammar could ewer get boring? I could do ten pages on the use of the colon, not to mention the possible excitement about when and where to use the Oxford comma.

Just as an aside, a few months ago, the CEO of the clinic at which I was the Medical Director asked me how things were going. I told him that although I wanted to stay, the work load was fairly intense and that an new doctor was needed. To my surprise and delight, an ad went out, arrangements were made to see candidates and another doctor was hired. Three months later, when my contract was up for renewal, I went to the CEO about the new contract and he told me that as per my instructions a new doctor had been hired and as the budget allowed only for one doctor, my contract would not be renewed in keeping with my desire to retire. I guess I should hawe been clearer in saying that there was a need for an additional doctor rather than another doctor.

So, as of two days ago, I am out, she is in and the owner of the company still does not understand why I left, though I tried to explain to him how this transpired. As a further twist, the CEO was escorted out of the building the day she told me that my contract was not renewed because I told them I was retiring.

If that distinction mattered to them, they would have asked.

Oh I do not hold credence to the thought that there was confusion, I merely mention this as an example in which imprecise speech and be turned and utilized for another purpose. In this case, an attempt to make a $60,000 decrease in the salary of the medical director appear to be a misunderstanding of the English language.

I think I wasn't clear enough. I'm saying even if you had said they needed an additional doctor, the subsequent events would have been exactly the same. In other words, while there are many times when imprecise language is the problem, I don't think your situation was one of them.

Having said that, I hope you go on to better things, so this will turn out to have been a good thing for you.

I agree. The outcome would be the same as they were looking to cut costs. With the CEO gone, the owner told me that he was told that I said to hire another doctor. That was true and would not be true if I had said hire an additional doctor. I do not in anyway think anything else would be different. Still got difficulty with the letter after u not working so need to rephrase or inappropriately phrase certain sentences.

Unemployment only goes so far!! If you find yourself considering becoming an escort please let us review your ad prior to posting. We wouldn't want anyone upset with your spelling or wrong uses of words.

For whatever it's worth, I'm always grateful for gentle correction. I find editing myself to be extremely difficult and there are plenty of opportunities to misuse or misspell a word in my writing that winds up altering the intended meaning.

If you're going to offer unsolicited advice, be prepared to have it rejected (even when it's accurate). But some folks are glad to know how we might be more effective communicators.

...But it sets my teeth on edge every time I read it.

A short email correspondence with an escort -

Mr. XXX--your pictures are incredible. One thing when I look at your ad. You can 'dominate' someone because it's a verb as in "Mr XXX dominates everyone he tops." But to describe yourself-you are 'dominant'. "Mr. XXX is an incredibly dominant top. "It's an adjective. You can't be dominate. Well you could be but not according to the rules of English. A lot of ***s do say it. But it is wrong.

Mr. XXX's response:

Thanks,

But I don’t think that matters, who cares.., I been noticed that..

contact me only to set an appointment not for grammar corrections..

Thanks for your concern

Exeunt the conversation.
