Are Escorts Over Us?

That's overly harsh. The guys perform a valuable service and they're needed. But they're not clerical types usually. Answering calls and texts and setting appointments is a hard job that few are good at. They're professionals trying to also handle their own secretarial and that just never works well.

On the other hand, because this is not a vanilla job, it's not exactly typical to hire a secretary to answer calls and set appointments.

Therefore escorts should become accustomed to act as their own secretary as part of the job description. At least they should become an average one at best.

I would personally grade myself an A in scheduling but a B in responding to new inquires.

Personally, as with others on both sides of the fence, messages end up getting triaged. A detailed message that already states interests and well as availability will usually get responded to promptly. Messages that just say hey, saw your ad, will usually be responded to last, and depending on the volume of incoming texts, run the risk of being overlooked on accident.

Be concise out there!

I have encountered similar, though not identical, problems here in Southern California. I have recently contacted three different escorts by text. Things went along swimmingly for a while and then, just as we are about to set up a specific day and time for our meeting, they went silent.

Now to be totally honest, in situations like these, I'm perfectly capable of being an arrogant ass. Once an escort and I have established a communication channel (texting) and then he suddenly doesn't respond to one of my texts I DO NOT pursue him. Some here may believe that it is possible that he didn't receive my last text and thus I should try again. I don't agree. The escort is the service provider and if, all of a sudden, he doesn't hear from me it, in my opinion, behooves him to contact me.

One of the nice things about being my age and having hired escorts for over sixteen years is that I have learned that there are MANY fish in the ocean. I am also rapidly coming to the conclusion that I need to stick to my regulars and stop trying out ferret out new guys -- they simply aren't worth the effort and trouble.

It's not just SoCal. I agree with your policy of non-pursuit if someone drops off after communication is established. Not quite with you on abandoning new guys...

I have had some recent experience with escorts in NYC where I've texted them about once or twice with a brief description of me their location get a better idea of their preferences and their rate? No response at all. I've moved on. LoL

Their loss ;)

Really appreciate the comments from both the community and a few of the escorts.

I thought I might provide an update. About a week and a half after I left San Diego, I received an e-mail from him. He apologized for not responding, indicating that he had family in town and wanted to be discreet. Although we had agreed on meeting up during the same time, he must have realized he couldn't host a client and a family member at the same time and laid low.

He inquired if I was coming back to San Diego soon. As I don't know when I'll be back in town for another project, I couldn't offer him a satisfactory response and he never replied in kind.

I agree with a lot of the advice here - written, clear and concise requests are best, and - in advance. It's to be expected that this isn't something you can call BBB with if you're unsatisfied with the service; however, with the right approach, it may be more productive

I usually start communication by email and find out some basic details like if they host or not, rate, when generally available, what I'm looking for. Not a lot of emails but a few over several days. I also check reviews and this site like its consumer reports and generally try to sense who would be best to contact. Then I let them know when I'm looking and start texting to finalize a meet. Never have any response issues by then. The worst may be that it's taken an hour or two, but usually really prompt. This is what works for me and saves a lot of hassle and disappointment.

I rarely hire an escort. When I do, which is usually in Europe, I pick up the phone. Mail is last century, specially for the young people, who prefer messaging.

Phone calls are also last century. Most of the young guys prefer texting.

Yup, most use Whatsapp, since a lot of escorts in Europe are travellers. The ones that bother with getting a local number and sim card are smaller.

I recently had a similar experience. I'd contacted a hot Brazilian guy living in Paris. Our texting was on fire, we connected really well and he seemed super excited to meet me. So we plan a session for the following week (I would visit Paris just for him).

On the morning of our session he cancels, saying he's sick and offering to reimburse me for my bus tickets.

I decided I still wanted to see him and he responds very warmly, kindly and also releaved since he thought I would be angry he cancelled and he offered to pay for my new bus tickets.

This was five weeks ago. I haven't heard anything from him since then. He completely ghosted me. I find it odd how someone can do a 180 like that in behavior.

I've since become wary of guys who've turned off their "last seen" and read receipts in Whatsapp. Personal experience has shown me that those guys are usually the ones that can ghost you out of nowhere (even after having established good interactions).

Agree. In most personal communication I avoid calls. One exception is when I contact an escort for the first time.

Dangerous to avoid calls since they are by far the best way to get a sense of someone -- the human voice can reveal a lot. The fact is, people are afraid of calls coz they can't control the discourse whereas you can shape a text message or email -- it's a different landscape. My best escort experiences by far have always been with people who are comfortable on the phone and turn out to be comfortable in themselves, too.

Problem is the bitches don't have pimps.

Seriously, in Europe because few escorts speak English or other clients' languages they have to have "agents". Latin friends of mine in the US also have agents because of language. It is amazing how much easier it is. The provider makes much more money because they have a professional answering texts and scheduling while they can be performing other, more valuable services. A $300/hr sex provider has no business doing $12/hr secretarial work. And even if it causes him to lose even one client a week that's more than an agent would cost.

When my Argentine partner visits and works out of my guest house we talk all day. In the morning his agent texts his schedule of clients so far for the day so he can plan any free time. Later the agent texts additional evening add-ons. He also texts when the client is outside at the meeting point. If he wants the day or part day off he texts so to the agent. He would never in a million years pull his phone out in front of a client. That is awful. He says he gets twice as many clients than handling it himself for which he pays a discounted 10%. (Volume, he's hot). Most pay 15%. That's of base, not tips or add-ons and he's a masseur so there's a lot of add-ons.

From a client's viewpoint it's great because you get quick responses and prompt scheduling. Like scheduling a dental cleaning. Unfortunately you think you're chatting with the provider but there's rarely misinformation as to services. They even know the extra charges. The only complaints from providers is when their agents are not doing their job well enough. But they'd never consider doing that secretarial work themselves. Just like a $300/hr professional wouldn't handle their own phones and scheduling.

I have no idea why only latino providers seem to use agents in the US. Getting responses even from repeat providers is like pulling teeth. It's awful.

Lol!!! Have patience. This is not call center job! You are not dialing 611 for att customer service!

Well here is one. I just contacted a guy through rentmen email to simply get rates and ask if he was versatile. No response. But what makes this interesting is in his ad he says "There’s a higher chance of replying to your messages if you are a premium member, I am all about quality, not quantity"

So now I guess spending $10 a month on rentmen makes me a better prospect? I think not.

Forgive the headline - I don't mean to be dramatic, but I'm down in San Diego for work this week and reached out to three different escorts on RM about a potential meetup within the last week, and I got:

  • One e-mail response back with a request if I could host, which I agreed to and then he never responded by e-mail or phone after a week of attempts;
  • One who was upset I called him on his RM phone number while he was driving and asked to call back when he wasn't driving (my clairvoyance is not as keen as his); and
  • One who was annoyed by phone when I asked about what he specialized in/liked to do. (Ambiguous ad, hot photos. Wanted more info...)

It seems like for two months its been like this - reach out and ask and get rejected as if you're trying to date them. Maybe its the 'gentleman' I've been interested in hiring; however, it just seems counterintuitive that one would advertise their services and not reciprocate with courteous interest or helpfulness.

Maybe its' just the reality of the "business" in that it operates in a grey area and we get-what-we-can-get. I don't know. Maybe it's just bad luck.

Would any of the seasoned commentators be willing to offer some commentary or sage advice? I'm flummoxed at this point.

Not just the way they communicate with us, but also the way most of them choose to present themselves physically to us, like they don't even care... You couldn't get a job picking up dog poop at Disneyland looking like a smelly HOBO or an deranged ISIS-sympathizer they way most of them look now... I once asked a guy if he could shave his damn beard and he barked at me like I asked him for a kidney. One asked me for $1,000 extra because it would take him a few months to regrow his beard!

It won't be long before they'll demand $100 extra for wearing DEODORANT. Want them to shower before coming over? PERMANENT-BLOCK!

The "pimp" reference was a joke. It's really an agent who does clerical stuff like answering calls and texts and setting schedules. They usually have never met.

isn't this "agent" the definition of pimp?

No, it"s a telephone answering service that provides translation and sets schedules. Usually never having met the person they work for.

This is a service to facilitate prostitutes. In England facilitation of prostitution is illegal.
